About Us

The name National Cartridge Company goes back to 1953 when we first started trading as a security services provider. The company has evolved to being one of the largest wholesale suppliers of hunting and shooting products in South Africa, including shotguns, rifles, handguns, air rifles, ammunition, traps, clays and shooting accessories. We also take great pride in being the manufacturers of the National Cartridge range of shotgun ammunition. From our base in Cape Town, National Cartridge Company has grown to become one of the larger importers and distributors of hunting and sporting arms and accessories in Southern Africa. Through our associated companies we have an established network which distributes to over 300 retail outlets throughout South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia. Charles Montgomery, the new owner, has taken ownership of National Cartridge Company and brings with him his expertise in cartridge manufacturing. He is a very enthusiastic game and wing shooter, and is passionate about clay target shooting. The company furthermore prides itself, now to ensure that all aspects of the shooter are catered for and offers products from reputable manufacturers. Norinco, Baikal, Lanber, Browning, Beretta, F.E.G., S&W, Webley and other international makes feature in our stock, as well as a range of N.C., P.M.P., N.G.A. and Swartklip (all proudly South African) products. The bean bag, rubber slug and O.C (pepper) rounds are intended to be direct fired, to target specific agitators and organisers of the crowd.

Quality and aggressiveness characterize this product line that mounts the Fiocchi “Black Mamba” ball. The bullet, with truncated cone geometry, is very light and optimized for each gauge. Description

The Stoeger Cougar is a semi-automatic large-frame pistol chambered in 9mm, the

history behind the Cougar is a little complicated. Originally manufactured by Beretta,

but because of production changes Beretta dropped the model and replaced it with

the PX4 Storm. At the time of the change Beretta owned Stoeger and, in a nutshell,

gave Stoeger the design. Although the Cougar’s manufacturer has changed, the

design is still relatively intact.

Features include a rotating-locking system, which means the barrel stays

straight and actually spirals as the slide pulls back. On other systems the

barrel just sort of sits and, as the slide pulls back, dips down in turn lifts the

front. The Cougar has an ambidextrous safety that works as a de-cocking lever,

so shooters can change between double and single-action. Its Bruniton finish

doesn’t glare, is corrosion resistant and comes in black, silver, and silver and

black. Its ergonomically friendly grip is a very popular feature. Most ergo-

grips have finger grooves, but the Cougar’s is bigger and round. And, its most

popular quality is its price.

Webley & Scott is one of the oldest names in the gun industry with almost two centuries of

production of some of the most famous firearms the world has ever seen - the Webley revolver,

shotguns, and Webley rifles. Webley was founded in the late 18th century by William Davies

who originally made bullet moulds. In 1834 the company was taken over by his son-in-law,

Philip Webley, and his brother James who began the production of percussion sporting guns.

Two sons, Thomas and Henry, entered the family business during the 1860's. It is for the

production of handguns, that Webley became famous. Webley's production originally consisted

of hand-crafted firearms, although mass-production was later introduced to supply police and

military buyers.

The 900 series 12g and 20g shotguns are designed to the highest specification for performance

and reliability. No expense has been spared in its development to produce the best handling

gun that cannot be matched for its robust but correctly weighted configuration. The Webley

900 series 12g and 20g have 3 inch chambers. The receiver is milled from a solid block of moly-

chrome steel and the barrels are black chromed to ensure longevity. With a gated barrel

selector and heavy duty hammer springs, this CNC machined action is strong! Available in 12g

and 20g in both Sporting and Game configurations and is beautifully finished with a hand oiled

walnut stock.

The line of Saiga-12 shotguns is in production since 1993, and forms a headliner product line among “Kalashnikov” shotguns.

These fast-firing, highly reliable guns are best suited for sport, security, home defense, hunting and recreational shooting. All shotguns are manufactured with 76 mm (3”) chambers and can use a wide variety of 70 mm (2 3/4”) or 76 mm (3”) factory loads. Guns use gas operated action with rotary bolt locking, assembled inside a stamped steel receiver. Detachable box magazines ensure fast reloads and simple change of load types in the field. Optional muzzle extensions with chokes further increase versatility of these shotguns.

Saiga MK 5.45 is based on the Kalashnikov AK74M rifle and can shoot semi-automatic only.

It features improved safety lever, side-folding polymer shoulder stock, and can accept 10-

or 30-round magazines. For Russian market, it is fitted with automated trigger lock which

blocks firing when shoulder stock is folded.
