Letter from the Social Club President
At our March 2nd Koffee Klatch we will have a guest speaker from the Oldsmar Historical Society. This will be an interesting presentation as there is so much history associated with Oldsmar. That evening there will be the show everybody has been waiting for – The Gordy & Debbie Show. I hope you got your tickets early as seats will sell out fast. This year’s show will be a Country Tribute featuring songs from all the great artists we knew.
On the 5th we will have elections of our new Social Club Officers. Please attend and cast your vote. Gull Aire’s St. Patrick Dance will be held on the 16th with Flashback as the entertainment. Karaoke is on the 8th & 23 and don’t forget every Sunday at 3:00pm is Chair Volleyball. You will have the laugh of your life playing this game.
The Clubhouse will be closed the evening of March 11 and all day on March 12 for the Oldsmar Municipal Election. Be sure to vote.
Please note that beginning in March, Bunco will start at the new time of 7:00pm.
My ship is leaving so I must keep this letter short. I will tell you all about our cruise next month.
Bon Voyage, Dale Mathurin, President

After four years of arduous service marked by unsurpassed patience and fortitude, the Civil War Round Table has been compelled to yield to overwhelming obstacles and limited resources. We exist no longer and shall not meet again. I need not tell the survivors of so many meetings and messages, who have remained steadfast to the last, that I have consented to the result from no distrust of them. But feeling that valor and devotion could accomplish nothing that could compensate for the loss that must have attended the continuance of the contest, I have determined to avoid the useless sacrifice of those whose past services have endeared them to their countrymen. By the terms of the agreement, patrons can have their past contributions returned to them. Otherwise, we will strive to donate our library to another equally good cause. You will take with you the satisfaction that proceeds from the consciousness of duty faithfully performed, and I earnestly pray that a merciful God will extend to you his blessing and protection. With an unceasing admiration of your constancy and devotion to our common passion for American History, and a grateful remembrance of your kind and generous consideration for myself, I bid you an affectionate farewell.

BOCCE Gene Henriksen 727-421-6614
It is already March and only a couple months of team play left before summer. For the last several years Bob Rose has been responsible for Bocce at Gull Aire, however, when he accepted a position on the Gull Aire Board of Directors, he relinquished the position to prevent a conflict of interest. At that time, I was asked to take over that responsibility. At first, I was reluctant to do so, because, up until a few short years ago I did not know the game existed, I am asking for your suggestions and help.
We need to give Bob a big thanks for all he has done to improve the game in our village including all the up-keep and improvements that have been made to the courts. “Thanks Bob”
For those not familiar with Bocce it is a fun and easy game “a good social time”. The courts are available to all residents of Gull Aire, a complete set of balls are available for both courts. Presently we have players signed up for team play on Monday and Thursday afternoon starting at 1 pm. However, if you would like to be a substitute, let me know. Other than that, the courts are always open. If you would like to learn the game or use the courts, let me know and I will help you or get the equipment from the shed. Summer months we are gone from late April until first part of October, Bob Rose (727-430-4389 or Joe Amendola (727-787-3896) are available to help.

We’re doing well, mostly having fun! I will have final scores in the next issue. As always, we need more players! At times we all have health issues or other commitments and cannot play. We need more players to cover for those who cannot. Fun shuffle continues on Thursday mornings so come out, play/practice and consider playing next season. Thank you to all of our bakers who present us with those luscious cakes for the break. A gentle reminder to please have the cakes at the clubhouse kitchen no later than 9:00 am. This allows time for the cakes to be cut up, placed on serving table, make coffee, set up seating area and still leave time for the ladies to get ready to play. A special thank you to Barb Smith and Cindy LaMarca for doing all of this work for each and every home game. Alice Szczur

Things your burglar won’t tell you
⚫ You’re right: I won’t have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it’s not bolted down, I’ll take it with me.
⚫ Sometimes, I carry a clipboard. Sometimes I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.
⚫ The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors

We had another successful year donating to our local food pantry. It took a Village!
Our volunteers are the best and so are our residents, who gave generously. The volunteers;
▪ organized this drive ▪ blanketed the community with reminder fliers ▪ made up our 16 golf cart teams of 3 ▪ loaded and drove the cars and truck over to the pantry.
Joanne, who represents Oldsmar Cares, had 13 students ready to receive and sort our donations. They were very happy with our efforts and said the food came at a greatly needed time! Donations are high around the holidays but dwindle after Christmas.
Our Social Club was very generous also. They paid for the fliers, donuts, coffee and made a $500 donation on behalf of all of us in Gull Aire Village. That money will be used to purchase food and help Oldsmar residents with utility and rent needs.
You can all be proud of yourselves and the help you gave those who are less fortunate and need a helping hand! Thank you for a job well done!
