Principal’s Report

Grandparent’s Day Last week we celebrated Grandparent’s Day and it was

wonderful to see so many people joining us for this

special occasion. During the morning, visitors attended

assembly and watched some wonderful performances by

our Year 5 Dancesport students and K/1W, who did a

wonderful job hosting the event. They also were invited

to spend time in class watching and participating in

lessons, participating in some old fashioned games and

enjoyed a delicious morning tea in our community room.

Many thanks must go to our team of staff, who spent

hours in preparation and organisation of this day for our

community. The feedback I received has been fantastic

and we are glad that grandparents and special visitors

enjoyed spending the morning with their grandchildren.

2019 Aboriginal Student Achievement Awards Last Monday Miss Wild and I were invited to attend the

2019 Aboriginal Student Achievement Awards, which

were held at Event Cinemas, Campbelltown. The

recipients of awards at this ceremony were determined

through a nomination process, where all schools in the

Sydney area could submit a written nomination in various

categories for their Aboriginal students. We were

notified last term that two of our students were

successful and received the following awards:

Tynan B for Numeracy

Zayn T for KARI All Rounder Initiative Award

Congratulations to these Aboriginal students for

receiving their special awards, which demonstrate their

high level of achievement, participation and commitment

at school.

Films By the Future Last term K/1W submitted a film for audition in the

Films By the Future Festival Series. This series

showcases the visual literacy and film making talents of

students in NSW public schools.

Recently, we were notified that the K/1W film was

successful in being included in the 2019 Films By the

Future Festival, which was held at Events Cinema

Macarthur Square last week on Wednesday night. All of

the students from K/1W were invited to ‘dress as a star’

and walk the red carpet before the evening premiere.

This event was attended by our students, parents and

many Guise PS staff, and was a fantastic night for all.

Congratulations to Miss Wild and all of the students in

K/1W. You all should be so proud of your outstanding

short film.

Stage 3 Camp This week many of our Stage 3 students travelled to

Wedderburn Campsite, to enjoy a fun and exciting two night

residential camp with Mrs Dobinson and Mrs Davies.

Over the three days, they had the opportunity to

participate in archery, flying fox, the Vertical Challenge and

bushwalking. Reports back from staff and students were

that they had a wonderful time attempting all of the

activities.

My thanks must go to our teachers for giving up their

personal time to provide this wonderful opportunity to our

Stage 3 students.

Community School Planning Dinner On Monday 18 November we will be holding a Community

School Planning Dinner from 3.10-6.00pm in our school

library. We would like as many parents and carers to come

along as possible, to find out more about what is happening

in our school and give us your feedback. At this planning

night, community members will enjoy afternoon tea, a fact

finding scavenger hunt, trivia game, prizes and dinner, free

of charge. So that the session remains productive, children will

participate in activities with school staff in one of our

classrooms. Children will also be provided with their dinner

separately so that parents can enjoy a ‘child free’ dinner

and discussion.

A ‘Save the Date’ flyer and invitation was recently sent

home. Please complete the RSVP slip and return to the

school office so we can organise numbers for catering

purposes and to receive your pre-session information

brochure.

Staff are looking forward to working with you to make

future plans and directions for our school.

Have a wonderful week!

Megan Predl
