Size

Approx 60” length x 8” width

Materials

Cascade Yarns Avalon, 50% Cotton /50 % Acrylic (100 g / 3.5 oz – 175 yds / 160 m) 2 skeins of #04 Crimson Crochet hook, size H/8 (4mm) or size needed to obtain gauge Yarn Needle Skill Level: Easy Blocked Gauge

In pattern, 3 arches and 4 rows = 4”

Stitch Abbreviations ch – chain stitch sk - skip sc – single crochet sp - space dc – double crochet sl st – slip stitch

Special Stitches Foundation Single Crochet (fsc) – Ch 2, insert hook under 2 loops of 2nd ch from hook, yo and draw up a loop (2 loops on hook), yo and draw through one loop – chain base for next stitch made, yo and draw through both loops on hook, sc made, *insert hook under 2 loops of next chain base, yo and draw up a loop (2 loops on hook), yo and draw through one loop – chain base for next stitch made, yo and draw through both loops on hook, sc made. Repeat from* for required number of stitches. (Tip – After making the ch which will be where the next fsc starts, hold that spot to help identify it for the next st.)

Shell – (dc, ch, dc, ch, dc, ch, dc) in indicated stitch.

Scarf

180 Fsc.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 5, sk 3 fsc, *sc in next fsc, ch 5, sk 3 fsc, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, ch 2, sk 3 fsc, dc in last st. Turn.

Row 2: *Ch 5, sc in ch sp, repeat from * to last ch 5 sp, ch 2, dc in ch 5 sp. Turn.

Repeat Row 2 until center of piece measures 7” in width – 14 arch rows total. Finish off yarn

Edging: With second ball of yarn, sl st into side of fsc, ch 1, sc in same spot, then sc 208 evenly around curved edge of scarflette.

Ch 4 (counts as 1st dc and ch of shell), (dc, ch, dc, ch, dc) in 1st sc,* sk 3 sc, shell in nest st, repeat from

* all the way around edge of shawl, ending with a shell in the last sc. 53 shells total. Finish off yarn and weave in all ends.
