When I was planning for the 2020 monthly horoscope

readings on Lenormand Reader’s YouTube channel, I

surveyed my community about what they’d like to see, and

the majority voted that I use a new layout, so I came up with

the Diamond.

Though someone must have tried it somewhere in the

world, I haven’t seen the Diamond layout anywhere.

The Diamond is a Tableau-style layout because its cards can

be read horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. It comes in

three versions and the medium and large Diamonds offer

quite a bit of detail, like the nine-card portrait and

Hourglass.

I want to introduce you to the concepts of sentences and

structures because they’ll come up in how we interpret the

Diamond.

A sentence is a string of two or more adjacent cards,

whereas a structure is a string of two or more cards that are

not adjacent.

In a Lenormand layout whose configuration allows it, we can

connect cards that are not adjacent and interpret them in

combinations. Discovering these kinds of connections

makes a Lenormand reading juicy with details and secrets!

You can shuffle and deal the cards anyway you like as long

as the cards are well mixed up and there’s no bias from a

previous layout.

The order of the cards in the Diamond and its versions are

my suggestions. Feel free to layout the cards in a way that

makes sense to you.

I’ve also suggested how the different sentences and

structures can be interpreted, but also feel free to make

sense of them in a way that resonates with you.

In a small Diamond, we have just one card in the middle,

and four cards around it. It’s the same as a simple cross,

which is also an augmented line of three (I talk about these

in detail in the Handbook and the LLIT).

The mini Diamond is very similar to a small Hourglass - just

configured as a diamond. So I offer you similar ways to

interpret its lines, but again, feel free to adapt or change

them in a way that resonates with you.

You might like to use a signifier (see pg. 17) to represent the

theme or issue at hand, and place it at the center of the

Diamond, at card 2.

Note. Decide beforehand which card will indicate the

outcome - if any. It can be card 2 because it’s in the center, or

card 3 because it’s in the future position, or any other

sentence that you feel captures the outcome.

➤ Card 2: Key theme and/or the present.

➤ Cards 1+2+3: The story unfolding, possibly from past to

future if you read card 1 as the past and card 3 as the future.

➤ Cards 4+2+5: The story unfolding, possibly from intention

to manifestation if you read card 4 as aspiration and card 5

as manifestation.

➤ Cards 1+4+3+5 (diamond): What surrounds the situation,

the forces acting on it.

➤ Cards 1+2+3 and 4+1+5 (cross): Puts the whole reading

together.

The medium Diamond has four additional cards, and the

way it’s laid out makes its sentences and structures a little

different from the small and large Diamonds.

I find that overlapping the cards slightly as they’re laid out is

more aesthetically appealing with this version of the

Diamond.

You can also use a signifier and place it at card 2. For the

2020 monthly reading, I opted to place all three monthly

Astroclock cards as the middle line of this Diamond, and

draw the rest of the cards to get deeper insights into the

month.

➤ Cards 6+7: Actions, next steps.

➤ Cards 8+2+9: Keys to manifesting ambitions, or how to tap

into foundations to manifest ambitions.

➤ Diagonal 4+2+7: Key details and/or advice.

➤ Diagonal 6+2+5: Key details and/or advice.

➤ Cards 1+2+3 and 8+2+9 (cross): Put the key storylines

together.

Many arrows can be read to connect the levels:

➤ Cards 4+8+5 might suggest how to formulate ambitions

into goals.

➤ Cards 1+4+2 and 2+5+3 might suggest how intentions

manifest into the story.

➤ Cards 6+9+7 might suggest what actions can be taken to

build on the foundation or to resolve the issue.

➤ Cards 1+6+2 and 2+7+3 might suggest how actions

manifest into the story.

There are four more cards in the large Diamond, or eight

more than in the small version, so there are many more

sentences and structures that we can read.

As with any layout, I’m proposing here my order for laying

out the cards and my approach for interpreting the

sentences and structures, but you might like to do things

differently.

As with the other two versions, you might like to place a

signifier at the center of the Diamond.

You can consciously select the central card of your chosen

Diamond to represent the issue at hand. This consciously

selected card is called a signifier and it’s selected based on

the topic or issue it represents.

You’d pull it out of the deck and place it (usually) at the

center of your layout, then shuffle the deck and draw the

rest of the cards randomly.

You can learn about signifiers in detail in Lenormand

Reader’s Master Guides or Master Courses.
