Most annual wildflowers, like poppies andlupines, bloom from late February to April. For dazzling displays (which are rare),fall and winter rains must be adequate.

Other annual wildflowers are summerbloomers. They bloom from late July toOctober, if summer rains are sufficient.

Perennial plants, like cacti, shrubs, and trees, bloom from late February toNovember. Unlike annual wildflowers,

perennial plants are not as dependent on thetiming of rainfall to bloom.
