Writing styles follow the conventions of upper and lowercase spelling. On most pieces, a maximum of 16 characters is allowed; however, there are some exceptions. A good rule of thumb is: the smaller the item, the fewer of characters allowed.

NOTE: Enter a name with correct capitalization. Item will be personalized as you enter it.

To pluralize a family name (proper noun):•In most cases you simply add an “s”. For example - the Storbecks, the McBrides, or the Smiths.

•For a family name ending with letters s, x, ch, sh, or z, the plural is formed by adding “es”. For example – the Burches, the Joneses, or the Ashes.

•For a family name which ends in an “s” that makes the hard “z” sound, nothing is added to the name to make it plural; We would say the Reeves, not the Reeveses …the Adams, not the Adamses.

*An apostrophe should not be used to pluralize a name; an apostrophe is used to create possessive forms.

A traditional monogram consists of three letters with the letter in the middle larger than the two outside letters.

Traditional Monogram Etiquette:A married woman’s monogram is typically listed with: -her First Name Initial (left position) -Last Name Initial (larger, in the center position) -her Middle/Maiden Initial (right position)

Couple’s monogram is traditionally listed as: -the Bride’s First Name Initial (left position) -the Husband’s Last Name Initial (larger in the center) -the Husband’s First Name Initial (right position)

A monogram where the letters are all capital and all the same size is traditionally used for a man; however, there are a lot of fun fonts available in this style for women as well.

Typically, when using an all same size monogram, the initials are listed in First Name, Middle/Maiden Name, Last Name order.

A monogram consisting of just two initials can be chosen using the fonts available in this category. This option can be used if the middle name initial is not known. More standard symmetrical fonts, like the Times Block or Typewriter, look best when choosing this monogram style.

Single Initials are always fun on items! There is no specific etiquette for using single initials but here are some suggestions:

Children – First Name Initial

Teenager/Young Adult – First Name Initial

Married Woman – First Name Initial

Man – Last Name Initial
