OVERVIEW OF EVENTS
Since 1980, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection has been managed by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, to which Peggy Guggenheim had given her palazzo and collection during her lifetime. During the 2013 and 2015 Venice Biennale two events were produced with distinctively different agendas. In 2013, there was a dinner to honor the parents of Michael Shulhof who serves both on the Board of Trustees of the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum and the advisory board of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Mr. Schulhofs had honored his parents and bequethed the bulk of their art collection to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The seated dinner celebrated this gift. The evening was set in the garden and terrace of the iconic Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, once the home of Peggy Guggenheim where the Schulhof Collection was on view. Established in 2012 the
Established in 2012 the Guggenheim UBS MAP Art Initiative is a three phase is a cross-cultural collaboration in support of art, artists, and curatorial talent from three regions: South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. The 2015 event in Venice was a celebration meant to promote the initiative and engage the art world. audience attending the Biennale.
