    12 months than the previous, indicating morestability.

    The number of new graduates entering

    the IT profession continues to be a

    concern.

    Surprisingly, less than 1 in 6 respondents work

    over 45 hours a week. This indicates a focus

    on work-life balance.

    common reason for changing jobs since 2009.

    Redundancy which featured in No. 2 position

    last year has dropped down to 4th.

    Pay rates and interesting work are the key drivers

    for contractors.

    Contractors are also more likely to have an issue with

    poor management and leave the role.

    76% of IT professionals would recommend their current

    employer to a friend this is a great opportunity for

    employers to utilise referral schemes. Individuals job

    satisfaction may not be as high but they would still

    recommend their employer.

    The GFC has not been as negative as people

    predicted for the IT industry, with little change

    in team size year on year between 2009-2010 and

    2010-2011.

    However the reasons for a decrease in team sizeare now more as a result of voluntary departures

    rather than due to redundancies.

    candidates as well as agency hire.

    Positive market branding and positioning

    is an important competitive advantage.

    Candidates are nding roles quicker than

    in 2010. This correlates to data collated

    by ITCRA (SkillsMatch) which indicates

    average days to ll IT roles continues to

    decline (30+ days in 2008 to c20 days in

    2010).
