was on the seashore cooking some breakfast to help move them forward. Shame always revels in the past. Grace always focuses on the future. There on the seashore that morning, Peter found a way forward. It was through the love, forgiveness and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus was his only hope. He is ours as well. He is our healer and deliverer. As Charles Wesley’s hymn pro-claims, “He breaks the power of cancelled sin; He sets the prisoner free. His blood can make the foulest clean; His blood availed for me.”

Standing on the shores of Galilee the other morning, I felt the same power of Christ’s love I am sure Peter felt. The same hope, the same peace, the same joy, the same grace is mine, and yours too. The promise of eter-nal life found in the risen Christ is mine, and yours as well. “Now this is eternal life—that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent” (John 17:3). Eternal life and free-dom from shame is forever linked to the person of Jesus Christ. John 3:16 boldly declares that, “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We do not have to live under the guilt of shame, or the fear of death any longer. Looking out over the shoreline of the Sea of Galilee I was reminded that death is no more the end of life than the horizon is the end of the ocean. Because Jesus Christ lives we can be confident of our future. Be-cause Jesus Christ lives we can be free of our past. Forgiveness is

in him. Life is in him. Like me, you may have watched the funer-al service for Dr. Billy Graham. I was struck by the words of two of his children. One spoke of victory over shame, the other about victory over death. His daughter Ruth Graham’s testimony of her father’s unconditional love for her was powerful. Like Simon Peter, the shame of her past failures threatened to destroy her

future. God’s offer of unconditional love and grace changed that. Dr. Graham’s son Frank-lin shared a memorable quote from his dad about victory over death. He said his dad told him, “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just

have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” That is the promise of the living Christ to all who believe! He is willing to meet all of us at our place of greatest need. He will come to us whenever and wherever shame threatens to destroy us, or the fear of death threatens to defeat us. In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loves us and gave himself for us! (Romans 8:37)

2018 REGISTRATION

Thank you!

Our Caregiver Care group, led by Dr. Frank Parr and loving facilitators, is meeting every Tuesday in room 226 at the Greenhouse at 10:15am. This group is open to any family caregiver in our community. Invite a friend!

Hope Arbor operates Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 2pm. The cost is $40 per day. Participants must be independent in the following: walking, eating, toileting, and enjoy being part of a group.

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering at Hope Arbor, there will be another training on April 18th from 8:30am-2:30pm, please contact Brooke Chambers [email protected] or (912)355-8527.

“The Hope Arbor Respite Program is the highlight of my husband’s week. The volunteers meet him at the door with smiles and excitement that he is there. He is accepted and encouraged to be himself. They actually seem to appreciate him and make him feel special; he feels loved. The singing has brought joy into his life. This spirit carries over into our home. I hear him singing the old hymns he

loves all during the day and he actual-ly remembers the words! I thank God for this program and the difference it

has made in his life and mine. “

- A Caregiver

"As a caregiver it is nice to have a break and share with others in

similar situations."

“So thankful God led me to the Hope Arbor ministry. It is such

a blessing being with everyone. So rewarding!”

Joyful Noise and the Kids of the Kingdom choirs will sing together in both traditional

services on April 22nd! This is the first time they have sung

together. Don't miss it!

Due to the need for enhanced security around schools, churches and public facilities across the US, IOHUMC will be installing se-curity doors on the most frequently used doors in the preschool and administrative wings of our church facility. All other doors will be locked during business and evening hours. These enhancements will take place over the next several weeks.

During the week, we are encouraging all frequent visitors to use the doors at the office end of the admin-istrative wing of the church. Preschool parents dropping off students will continue to use the two doors currently in use by the preschool until the end of the current school year in May.

While we understand this may cause a slight inconvenience during weekdays, our primary objective is to keep all students, staff and property safe. Your support and understanding is both welcomed and appreciated.

Week of the Young Child April 16-20, 2018

The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Isle of Hope Preschool will be observing this special week as they celebrate early learning, young children and their teachers and families. On Thursday, April 19th, each age group will celebrate together. Research tells us that the first three years of a child’s life is the time of greatest brain de-velopment and learning. Ensuring that the children who attend the IOH Preschool receive loving and devel-opmentally appropriate care and learning has long been part of the preschool’s philosophy. It is the joyous responsibility of the preschool to set children on the right path to learn and grow physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritu-ally. During this week we’ll also celebrate the wonderful teachers of young children that we have at Isle of Hope, starting with our preschool teachers and our First Things First teachers, extending to our Sunday School, choir and all who lovingly help our young ones to learn. *If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Wez Childers at [email protected])*
