Introduction LTE

There are at least three major key drivers for LTE mobile

broadband networks:

Demand for higher data-rates

− increasing device capabilities, growing mobile data consumption

New spectrum allocation

Maintaining operator profitability while continued cost reduction

and competitiveness.

LTE Channel Bandwidths

LTE must support the international wireless market and regional spectrum

regulations and spectrum availability. To this end the specifications include

variable channel bandwidths selectable from 1.4 to 20 MHz, with subcarrier

spacing of 15 kHz.

Accessibility KPIs

Accessibility is the ability of a user to obtain the requested service from the system.

RRC connection and RAB setup are the main procedures of accessibility. These items can

be calculated per cell and per RNC, and the RNC level KPI is calculated by aggregating

all the cell counters that belong to the RNC.

RRC SR

RRC SR

The RRC setup procedure is trigged by different reasons which are divided into two classes:

First is related to service and second is related to other reasons.

This KPI can be used to evaluate the RRC setup success ratio for service causes in a cluster.

Retainability is defined as the ability of a user to retain its requested service for the

desired duration once connected. These items can be calculated per cell and per RNC.

The RNC level KPIs can be calculated by aggregating all the cell counters and Iur

counters.
