Search Page• You can access

the search page in GSL by clicking on either of the two highlighted areas on the image to the left.

• The search page is divided into Quick Search and Advanced Search

• These search options will be explained further on the next slides.

• The Quick Search looks for the keyword(s) you enter in the field.

• This will search within the title, description, and the media number field.

• Quick Search will bring back everything in the site that meets your search criteria giving you the maximum search results.

Quick Search (cont.)

• This search can be used along with the Advanced Search to give you more specific results.

• The Quick Search defaults to current and non-current and all language documents. To alter your search results, you will need to change the advanced search criteria.

Advanced Search• The Product Section

– First drop down allows you to select a family category (ie: Machines, Product Support, Work Tool Attachments)

– The following drop downs let you get more specific into families and subfamilies in each category.

• The Media Type and Industry sections allow you to refine your search

Advanced Search (cont.)• Status

– The default setting is to have the current and non-current boxes checked. With this, your search results will contain current and non-current media

– To search for just current media, make sure that the non-current box is not checked.

• Language– The default setting for the site

is All Languages.– When searching for another

language using the quick OR advanced search, you will need to select the language from this drop down.

Search Tips• Remember that current and non-current media is the

search default; you will need to deselect current in the advanced search drop down if you are only looking for non-current media/machine models.

• Don’t forget that All Languages is the language default. If you want to search for another language, you will need to change the language in the advanced search drop down.

• If you are having trouble searching non-current machine models, try putting the model in the quick search and using the advanced search to narrow down your results.

• You can subscribe and unsubscribe using the links as show below.

• Subscribers receive an email every other Wednesday listing new media and providing a direct link to the document.
