Liturgy: Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings: Isaiah 22:19-23 Romans 11:33-36 Gospel: Matthew 16:13-20 Message: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. The readings today wrestle with the questions of who is in and who is out. When it comes to God’s grace, who will receive it? We learn that all who accept the gift of faith are incorporated into the covenant relationship with God.

That our prayers may find the heart of every priest and bishop.
A call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week
for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop – a “holy wasting” (cf. Mt. 26:10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper conformity to Christ.
The seven sisters Apostolate groups in Antigo are asking the women of our parishes to consider giving one hour of prayer each week for one of our priests. We are in the process of organizing a group of Fr. Joel and one for Fr. Callistus. Each woman commits to praying a holy hour for her assigned priest on a specific day of the week. A commitment of one year is ideal. For more information, please see the Apostolate website at sevensistersapostolate.org or call Michelle Cochrane at 715-623-3148.
“In strengthening the priest, you strengthen the whole Church… Strengthen the priest and you strengthen the whole foundation, you strengthen everything in the church…”
-Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald, S.P
Growing In Your Faith
This week and last week Paul talked to the Romans about the call of God and his gifts to us are irrevocable, that we disobeyed God and have received mercy so others disobedience must be shown mercy by us and that God’s judgements are inscrutable. Inscrutable is impossible to understand or interpret. We do not know what judgement lies on the other side of heaven’s veil for us. All we know is what we are told in the Bible that we will be judged for our actions here on earth.
To whom much is given, much will be required (Luke 12:48) What is required is to keep the Commandments, to love God above all else, to love your neighbors as yourself, to be thankful in all things and to be his disciple.
In this ever-changing world which seems chaotic and hopeless to some, let us take a good look in the mirror and ask ourselves, do others see Christ in me? Am I proclaiming the Good News? Do I lift other’s up? How would God judge me today?
