Small, long-term groups characterised by more intimate communication, high levels of cohesiveness and security within the group,

examples ; family, friends, councilors.

+Secondary Group

Larger, less intimate more goal- focused group.

Examples; Workplaces, classes, school year groups.

Page 4: Group tasks

+Temporary groups.

Formed for a particular purpose and disband when that purpose is fulfilled.

Examples; class assignment groups, help groups , peer support, sporting groups

Page 5: Group tasks

+Permanent groups.

These groups are long standing and have strong connections and similar interests.

Examples; family and friends.

Page 6: Group tasks

+Formal groups.

These groups have specific goals and established boundaries and protocols.

Examples ; work teams, police, FBI, schools, religious groups.

Page 7: Group tasks

+Informal groups.

These groups occur as a need arises and do not reply on structured organisation.

Examples ; extended family, acquaintances.
