The charming Artstetten Castle is situated in the middle of a beautiful park, near to
the Wachau valley, a fairytale setting for the experience of fateful years of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
Here, the memory of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Duchess of Hohenberg, who fell victims to a murder plot in Sarajevo, is kept.
They went down in history as the first two victims of the First World War.Many people suffered a similar fate…
