Half Day city Tour HortaIn the afternoon, the City of Horta welcomes you to this quaint island where everything looks both small and lovely. It contains a great richness of architecture illustrated in its buildings and monuments. The marina is generally filled with colorful yachts which stop here during their voyage across the North Atlantic. This creates a lively atmosphere characteristic to Horta which is revealed in the relationship between the residents and the yachtsmen.Architecturally the following structures are especially noteworthy:

- The So Salvador Church (mother church), the Nossa Senhora das Angstias (Our Lady of Anguish Church), the Nossa Senhora do Carmo (Our Lady of Carmo Church), the Church of St. Francisco which is presently integrated with the Arte Sacra Museum and the Horta Museum;- The Chapels of Nossa Senhora do Pilar and Nossa Senhora da Guia, (Our Lady of Pilar) provide magnificent terraces overlooking the city, the south part of the island and Pico;- The Torre do Relgio Clock Tower, Imprio dos Nobres, and the Forte de Santa Cruz, a noteworthy structure from the 16th century which has been transformed into an Inn;The Porto fortificado do Porto Paim (large iron gate of Porto Paim), and the Muralhas de So Sebastio (walls of St. Sebastian) were constructed to defend the bay of Porto Paim.

Lunch will be served in one of the worlds most famous pubs, Peters Caf.

Afternoon Optional HD Whale & Dolphin WatchingThe isolated archipelago of the Azores has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best Whale Watching destinations in the world. Laying about a third of way across the Atlantic between Portugal and North America, its permanent or temporary home of more than a quarter of all known cetacean species. Mark Carwardine, Whale Watching specialistAzores is considered by many as the best spot in the Atlantic to do Whale watching. The sea around the Azores islands is incredibly rich. It is probably the place in Europe with the biggest sea diversity, especially in what cetaceans are concerned: whales and dolphins. The abundance of dolphins often amazes us. They are everywhere, in groups of variable size, travelling from one place to another, feeding or simply playing their never-ending social games. On a single trip you can find the common Atlantic spotted dolphin, the bottlenose, rissos dolphins and striped dolphins. Sperm whales are resident all year round, but there are also migratory species such as Blue, Fin, Humpback, Minke and Sei whales. We can never forget that these are animals running free in their own habitat so it is never guaranteed to see them. On a boat trip the participants will be guided in a unique experience always having in consideration high standards of safety and respect for the animals and their natural environment. The company respects animals by avoiding pressure or interference when they are feeding or resting. This voluntary attitude has been praised by many ecological and scientific organizations that consider their work a contribution to the better knowledge of these sea mammals surrounding the islands of the Azores.
