Presenter: Matthew Keeling Central Coast Water Board
Overview: Salt and nutrient loading to groundwater is one of the most significant regional-scale water quality and quantity/ supply issues within the Central Coast Region and the State. At the March 14th meeting Matthew Keeling of the Central Coast Water Board will discuss the pending development and implementation of salt and nutrient management plans as called for within State Water Resources Control Board Resolution No. 2009-0011 (aka, Recycled Water Policy). As part of the discussion, he will summarize various aspects of the stakeholder driven process (as outlined within the Recycled Water Policy) including potential pitfalls and benefits. The stakeholder driven process provides a unique opportunity for local and regional stakeholders, particularly municipalities, to shape the development of appropriate and effective management strategies to address salt and nutrient issues within their watersheds.
