Welcome to Toigo’s third annual Toigo Groundbreaker’s Summit—a unique investment conference where the investment is in you, your professional growth and achievement.

Based upon the success of the past two years, we’re continuing our focus on timely topics that surround women in leadership. We are presenting sessions on managing risk, effective networking and courageous leadership, to name a few. You’ll hear from industry leaders, noted academics, best-selling authors as well as our own Toigo Alumnae and have opportunity to engage in lively luncheon discussion on key topics which carry throughout the day’s program.

Cindy Helen Brea is a Vice President in the Fixed Income Division at Morgan Stanley responsible for institutional clients in Central America and the Caribbean. Her focus to date has been financial institutions, providing both asset and liability side solutions

through structured note ideas, financing and derivative transactions respectively. Cindy Helen joined Morgan Stanley after several years at Credit Suisse where she began her career on the Foreign Exchange Sales desk and was dedicated to hedge fund coverage. She graduated from Harvard Business School and is a Toigo Alumna. Her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering was received from Columbia University in New York. She hails from and lives in Brooklyn, NY by way of the Dominican Republic and is a first generation college student.

The New York Times bestselling book, The Athena Doctrine: How Women (And The Men Who Think Like Them) Will Rule The Future, documents the rise of feminine traits and values in leadership and society.

Kelly is Managing Director and Global Head of the Customized Fund Investment Group. CFIG manages over $30 billion of client commitments to private equity and real estate funds, and specializes in designing tailored portfolios for investors. In addition, CFIG

provides portfolio management services for over $130 billion of client commitments to private equity. Ms. Williams was an Executive Director with Prudential’s private equity group where she founded CFIG in 1999. Ms. Williams was previously an associate with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy, where she specialized in global project finance.

Ms. Williams graduated magna cum laude from Union College in 1986 and received her JD from NYU School of Law in 1989. Kelly was elected to the YWCA Academy of Women Leaders in 2007. She is a member of the Metro Chapter of YPO and serves on the Board of Trustees of Union College and the Robert Toigo Foundation. She is the founding board chair of the Private Equity Women Investor Network. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Council of Urban Professionals and the advisory board of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers. She is also the chair of the LP Advisory Board to the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity and this year’s recipient of SEO 50th Leadership Anniversary Award. Kelly was recognized in 2011, 2012 and 2013 by American Banker magazine as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance and received the 2012 Woman of Power and Influence Award given by the National Organization for Women. Also, Kelly is this year’s recipient of The Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM) Trailblazer’s award; honoring female pioneers in the financial services industry, particularly those who have contributed to the diversity of the overall industry.

The youngest of 13 children from a farm in rural Oklahoma, Hill received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1980. She began her career in private practice in Washington, D.C. Before

becoming a law professor, she worked at the U. S. Education Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In 1989, Hill became the first African American to be tenured at the University of Oklahoma, College of Law, where she taught contracts and commercial law. Currently, at Brandeis University, she teaches courses on gender, race, social policy and legal history. Along with Provost Steve A. N. Goldstein, Hill is responsible for implementing Fulfilling the Promise: The Brandeis University Strategic Plan. As counsel to Cohen Milstein, she advises on class action workplace discrimination cases.

Hill’s latest book is Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race and Finding Home (Beacon Press, 2011). She has also co-edited with Professor Emma Coleman Jordan, Race, Gender and Power in America: The Legacy of the Hill- Thomas Hearings (Oxford University Press, 1995). As well, over the course of her professional career, she has authored numerous law review articles on commercial and banking law, bankruptcy and civil rights law. In addition, she has made presentations to hundreds of academic, business and civic audiences in the United States and abroad. Hill is also a regular interviewer for the City Arts & Lecture Series of San Francisco. Her onstage conversations with filmmaker Spike Lee and author, Anna Quindlen, and law professor, Stephen Carter, were broadcasted by 160 public radio stations around the country. Time, Inc., Newsweek, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and Ms. Magazine have published Professor Hill’s commentary and she has appeared on national television programs.

Under Nancy’s leadership, Toigo has implemented a model 501(c)3 governance structure that includes engagement of a blue-chip board and operational transparency and compliance, making Toigo a standout among non-profits and mission-driven organizations. Prior to joining Toigo as its President and CEO, Nancy served as a member of the Board of Directors for five years, as a mentor to many early-stage Toigo Alumni. She served as Senior Vice President and Director of Institutional Marketing for McNeil Capital and as Vice President, Client Relations for the RREEF Funds. As Director of Human Resources at RREEF Funds, Nancy developed and launched a model program for implementing social responsibility across a range of initiatives, from minority vendor contracting to scholarships and internships.

Jai Jai Ramsey Greenfield is not a beer drinker, but don’t hold that against her. She has taken the one beverage she likes and turned it into a $1.5 million dollar business. Seven years ago, she left her trading post at Morgan Stanley to found one of the first wine boutiques in Upper Manhattan. Called Harlem Vintage, it led the entrepreneurial rebirth in the historic neighborhood. Edible Manhattan called Jai Jai Greenfield an entrepreneur “thinking outside the jug”, while the Wall Street Journal cited her as one of “Harlem’s new entrepreneurs providing a template for blacks in other cities”.

Jai Jai distinguishes herself with a keen sense for noticing a need and providing a solution. While consulting with Vino Volo, a firm that develops high-end wine bars in airports, she noticed the lack of wine bars in her Harlem neighborhood. Building on the success of Harlem Vintage, she opened Nectar Wine Bar next door in April 2008. It was soon selected by Time Out Magazine as one of the best new wine bars in New York City. Though both businesses have closed, Jai Jai continues her work in the wine industry focusing on sales and marketing for an importer / distributor.

Treasurer Cowell, who holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the prestigious Wharton School of Business, blends her experience as an international stock analyst with her insights as a local elected official and legislator to serve all North Carolinians. She was first elected as Treasurer in 2008—the first woman to hold the post, and she was re-elected in 2012 with 54% of the vote. Under her leadership, the state is recognized as one of the most fiscally-sound in the nation, with AAA ratings from all three bond agencies.

Carmen A. Heredia-Lopez, CFA | Chief Investment Officer, Chicago Teachers Pension Fund (CTPF)Toigo Alumna (Chicago-Booth ’97)Carmen A. Heredia-Lopez is the Chief Investment Officer at the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund (CTPF). She is responsible for the Fund’s ~$10 billion investment portfolio. She provides oversight of the global, internally and externally managed multi-billion portfolio of equities, fixed-income, real estate and alternative investments. Prior to assuming her current responsibilities at the CTPF, Carmen was an Investment Analyst at the ~$25 billion Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

Women leaders who will share their experiences as institutional investors and views of today’s pension requirement for managing risk.
