GRIZZLIES END 1980 FOOTBALL SEASON AT U OF NEVADA-RENO
The University of Montana Grizzlies travel to play the University of Nevada-Reno Wolf Pack in a Big Sky Con­ ference game and the 1980 finale for UM. The game will be played in 14,000-seat Mackay Stadium (natural turf).
Montana won its third game at home, knocking off the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, 31-21 in a Big Sky contest. Nevada-Reno saw its conference title hopes fade, as it lost a 14-3 game at Boise State.
This will be the fourth meeting between the Grizzlies and Wolf Pack, UNR leading 3-0 in the series. Reno won 27-20 last year in Missoula. Other scores: 1947: UNR 50, UM

Montana tied the game 13-all in the third period, but Reno passed for two TDs to put the game out of reach. Reno's Frank Hawkins led all rushers with 181 yards on 31 carries.
Larry Donovan, in his first season at UM, is 3-6 overall. UNR1s Chris Ault, in his fifth season, is 39-14-1.
Grizzly Bill Schwanke begins his pregame report at 1:30 p.m. (MST) on Missoula KYLT Radio. The airing of the game on the Grizzly Football Network is 1:50 p.m.(MST). Bob Lee provides the color commentary.

Hawkins has rushed for 1,252 years on 242 carries thus far this season, for a 5.2-yard average (139.1 yards per game). He has scored five times. He has 4,866 career yards rushing to rank him sixth on the all-time NCAA list. The second leading rusher in running back John Vicari (115 for 462, five TDs).
OB Jeff Ardito, a freshman, is 72 out of 149 for 883 yards and six TDs. He has thrown five interceptions. His favorite receiver is Vicari (17 for 93, two TDs).
Defensive leaders for the Wolf Pack are linebacker John Ramatici with 101 tackles, Steve Knapp has 85 tackles and Bubba Puha has 60 stops.
Grizzly senior tailback Wayne Harper was named co-Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for his efforts against N. Arizona. The native of Livingston, Montana gained 151 yards rushing on 31 attempts, and also caught three passes for 37 yards. He shared the honor with Idaho State QB Mike Machurek.
Mike Hagen leads UM in rushing (279 yards on 75 carries, and four TDs). Harner is next (49 for 217).
QB Marty Mornhinweg is 56 of 112 for 814 yards and five TDs. Senior Bart Andrus is 53 of 94 for 531 yards.
The leading receivers are Mike Alex (21 for 339), Brad Dantic (10 for 271), Hagen (19 for 160) and Brian Salonen (13 for 150).
Montana's top tackier is LB Kent Clausen with 76, followed by Mickey Sutton with 51 and Jim Hogan with 50.
The team and auxiliary personnel are expected to arrive at 6 p.m. The team is staying at Nendell's Quality Inn in Sparks, Nev. The team will return to Missoula immediately after the game.
