May, 2017 Newsletter

Happy Easter!! In fact, Happy Easter

X7. There is a week of Sundays of

Easter. April 23rd

was the second

Sunday of Easter. May 28th is the

seventh Sunday (week of Sundays)

of Easter. After the seventh Sunday

of Easter, the next Sunday is the 50th day after Easter, Pentecost.

Pentecost is the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, filled

them and sent them to go and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

To this day, through our baptism, we continue to be filled with the

Holy Spirit enabling us, also, to go out and share the good news of

Jesus Christ. Share the good news of love and forgiveness within

our family, friends, work, leisure, in every aspect of our lives. The

Spirit compels us to reach out, go out and serve.

Each time we come back into our church with each other, we are re-

newed in the Spirit in our sharing our love for one another. Renewed

in the Spirit, we again, go

out and reach out sharing

the goodness of God’s

grace given to us through

the death and resurrection

of Jesus Christ.

So God Created Mother's

God could not be in every place With loving hands to help erase

The teardrops from each baby's face, And so He thought of mother.

He could not send us here alone And leave us to a fate unknown; Without providing for His own, The outreached arms of mother.

God could not watch us night and day And kneel beside our crib to pray,

Or kiss our little aches away, And so He sent us mother.

And when our childhood days began, He simply could not take command. That's why He placed our tiny hand

Securely into mother's.

The days of youth slipped quickly by, Life's sun rose higher into the sky, Full grown were we, yet ever nigh,

To love us still, was mother.

And when life's span of years shall end, I know that God will gladly send, To welcome home her child again, That ever-faithful loving mother.

Memory Verse: “Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither dismayed; for the Lord

your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Attending: Highland Middle School

Hobbies & special interests: Playing the piano, drawing and roller-

blading

Career Plans: Engineer

Faith Statement: “The dictionary defines faith as a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. And that is the hard part. I like facts. My favorite subjects are math and science. But I do have faith in God. When I see people go out and do good deeds, such as feed-ing the homeless and building homes and schools, it shows the good in them. It shows the good in humanity. That goodness comes from God and it strengthens my faith.”

May 21st

, 2017, 10:45am, Fellowship Hall

LeAnn Stutler took a course as part of her studies at Columbia University,

Chicago, “Religion in Chicago”. Part of the class involved projects on a

specific faith/ethnic community in Chicago and/or the surrounding suburbs.

She chose to meet with a Lutheran pastor in University Village to talk about

the history and changes of First Immanuel Church, Chicago, while also learn-

ing more about the Reformation and our Lutheran ancestors in the Chicago

area.

Come hear LeAnn talk about her project on Sunday, May 21st during

Fellowship hour and the Adult Bible Study class.
