Students were dressed up in the costumes representing the culture and tradition of different states. Students did a ramp walk and spoke about the fabrics. FASHION SHOW SCIENCE FAIR On 3rd September Greenwood High took part  in the Science Fair ( Vigyana Habba) at Soul Kere, Off Sarjapur Road.  Two groups of four members participated  in the Science Fair and the topics chosen for presentation were - 1. Too Many Nutrients  ( By Grades 5 and 6), 2. Sewage Treatment ( By Grades 7 and 8) Following are the names of the students who took part in the Science Fair. Grade 5 - Dibyesh Ganguly, Haasini Paparaju, Grade 6 - Mihir Dasgupta,Rijul Raman Grade 7 - Tanay Shekhawat , Joel, Grade 8 - Aditya Padiyar , Monish I am delighted to inform you that our project by Grade 7 and 8 -Sewage treatment plant won second prize in the fair . TEACHER’S DAY Teacher’s Day was celebrated on the 6th of September with much gaiety and fanfare. As always the students put up a stupendous show to make this day memorable for their teachers. From the well choreographed dances to the choice of songs, the children outdid themselves. We were joined, by one of our old student and Head Boy Arjun Banerjee in this celebration. It was indeed a proud moment for the teachers at Greenwood High to see one of their students ready to take on the world. We wish him all the best. The day also saw the gathering of Principal, Vice principal and teacher’s in the auditorium and had a two hours spectacular dance and song extravaganza through which the students of grade 5 to 12 expressed their love, affection and appreciation to all their teachers. The compere’s were Niyati Shirguppi (Grade 10 _ C) and Shreya Panigrahi (Grade 12 _ A). The program left the teachers with the sense of great happiness and joy. GRADE 1 AND 2 SPORTS AWARDS Life is just like a game. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Participating in various games and sports develop a feeling of sporting spirit. In sports, the participating candidate may win or lose. The student learns to accept both victories and defeats with grace. The following students are the winners in their respective categories. It organises programmes of classical music and dance, folk arts, crafts, yoga, classic cinema screenings, heritage walks, etc. inside school and college campuses throughout the world to make students more aware about Indian and world heritage. This initiative makes education more holistic and meaningful as it highlights all that is abstract, subtle, inspiring and mystical in the world teaching one to look within oneself. SPIC MACAY runs on the energy of volunteers who come from all walks of life - students, teachers, housewives, professional and retired people, young and old. Nishkam Seva is a key aspect of the movement. Eminent artist Vidwan Shashank Subramanyam who plays the flute in Carnatic style, was accompanied by Shri Ojas Adhiya on the table, Lelo Nika from Belgrade on the accordion, Thommy Andersson on the double bass who comes from the Swedish folklore music tradition , Goerge Mihalache on the cimbalom who is the 6th generation of a family steeped in Romanian gypsy music. The ensemble enthralled the students with their music and various improvisations which were their own compositions. They further enlightened the audience on their queries about music and how the instrument worked. It was a truly an enriching experience for us at Greenwood High. STATE LEVEL SWIMMING CHAMPIONS FROM THE LEFT SHALINI BARE, RAHIL HASSAN AND CHIRAG SOMAIAH WITH PRINCIPAL MR. D’MELLO. GWH AT THE ASISC NATIONAL LITERARY EVENT IN KOLKATA The ASISC National Literary Event was held on 19th September 2016 at The Heritage School Kolkata. Three students from Greenwood High qualified to represent Karnataka at the ASISC National Literary Event. 1. Swara Seshan Grade XI (Arts) and Madhuboni Bhattacharya Grade XII (Arts) from ISC qualified for the Debate Competition. 2. Shelly Jain from Grade XII (Science) from ISC qualified for the Creative Writing Competition. At the National Event in Kolkata Madhuboni Bhattacharya (Grade 12 C) won first runner up position against the motion “The youth of today need a backbone not a wish bone.” Congratulations Madhuboni Bhattacharya! GYOUTH FOOTBALL CUP WH WINS!! The U – 16 Greenwood High girls football team won the Youth Football Cup title in a 1 – 0 penalty shootout against RICE. Jahnavi scored the decisive goal. Congratulations to the team and their coach Mr. Sudhakar. GWH SHINES AT THE STATE - LEVEL SWIMMING COMPETITION Chirag Somaiah ( Grade 12B) and Shalini Bare ( Grade 12A), from Greenwood High hogged the lime light by winning three events each in the senior boys and girls category respectively. In the senior boys category, Chirag stood first in 100mtr freestyle, 50mtr freestyle and 50mtr backstroke. In the senior girls category, Shalini Bare stood first in 50mtr freestyle, 50 mtr butterfly and 50mtr breaststroke. Rahil Hassan ( Grade 12C) also from Greenwood High stood first in 50mtr butterfly and 50mtr breaststroke. Well done ISC students.
