How green is green?

• Green economy in 1992 Rio Earth Summit equals sustainable development.

• Green economy in Rio+20 not the same, narrow • Green in PHI, not reduced to Pnoy’s National

Greening Program (NGP), is more like Rio ‘92 or sustainable development, at least in rhetoric

• Green policymaking began in Marcos time—1972 Stockholm UN Conference

MDG 7 as green minimum

• MDG 7 on environmental sustainability with ff targets:

1. Integration of sustainable development in policies;

2. Increase in forest cover; 3. Increase in protected areas; 4. Improvement in the lives of slum dwellers, esp. on

water & sanitation • Assessment: likely to be achieved by 2015

environments; a local economy that gives decent work to all; sustainable consumption and production minding local carrying capacity; self sufficiency and self reliance; self-governance/local autonomy
