THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT

IT IS A SITUATION WHEN THE TEMPERATURE RISES DUE TO THE INCREASED CONCENTRATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE (OR OTHER GASES OPAQUE TO IR RADIATION -. TOR GAS) ON TH EPLANET. IT IS ONE OF THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION.

The causes of the greenhouse effect:

-development of industry-burning of fossil fuels ( carbon and oil)-emissions of methane and CFCs-burning of forest-automotive

There was s big flood in 1997 in Poland which was a probable result of greenhouse effect. Many people lost their homes and the work of their lives. Even last year there were areas affected by flood, yet nothing has been done to prevent it and fight for the environment.

The greenhouse effect is, of course, the rise of temperature of the Earth, which will trigger unpredictable reactions , such as avalanches.

Melting glaciers and flooding their waters in coastal areas, which will lead to loss of life and work by the people (eg densely populated areas in the fertile estuaries, including the Vistula) and can cause a lot of social conflicts.

Rising temperatures will likely shift climate zones of 150-500 km towards the poles by the end of the twenty-first century. In hot areas, yields decrease, the new warmer will increase, but will not withstand intensive cultivation of the soil water deficit and new thermophilic pests.

Rapid changes in climate disturb the balance of ecosystems and the extinction of many species of small adaptability.

Climate change will increase the frequency of extreme weather and climate disasters like heat waves, floods, hurricanes, that directly threaten health and lives.

Global warming will accelerate the evaporation of water and sinking it in new areas, which will reduce the resources of drinking water, the source of life.
