    Green space may consist of a broad range of landscapecharacters from highly maintained parks, gardens, avenues,playing elds and churchyards to natural landscapeenvironments.

    Water systems such as open water, rivers, streams and stormwater systems are usually included in green space and arealso referred to as the “blue structure” in the eld of urbanand regional planning.

    IMPORTANCE OF GREEN OPEN SPACE IN URBAN AREAS

    Research shows that there is a great need for environmentaldiversity, where the potential of green spaces is highlighted as apotential improvement of the uality of life for all citi!ens.     Green spaces enhance the ualities of urban life and facilitate avariety of opportunities, social and cultural diversity andphysical settings are highly valued.

    almost - kilometres it has a large variety of retail spacesincluding showrooms, street shops, eating oints, a post o/ce,a police station, etc.

    &t is a very busy region as it attracts a large number of peoplefor meeting their daily needs as well as providing obs. &t actsas a primary area for social interaction among people ofdi#erent age groups.

     0he shops run along the sides of the main road. " lot of thelocal vendors bring out their stalls on the roads which createscongestion on the roads and leads to over crowding. 0he lack ofgreen spaces add to this congestion and over crowding.

     0he structured environment of the region needs to bemonitored and developed in an organi!ed manner so that greenspaces may be included in the design. 0he number of treesplanted needs to be increased to create a much sereneenvironment.
