Little River Canyon has over 100 rare species.
Three are endangered, two are threatened, not including the Bald Eagle, and
about 18 are endemic, living
only in this area.
Endangered Species: Green Pitcher PlantSarracenia oreophila
It lives in only three states.
They are carnivorous plants, living in the poor
soil of sandy bogs.
What adaptations does the Pitcher plant have that is common?
…Uncommon?
How do these plants populate an area?
How are they adapted to life in their habitat?
Who depends upon these plants?
They are a community themselves
What do you see?
If I wait here, dinner may come by
This spider was on the same Pitcher Plant for over 4 weeks.
Did somebody say Dinner?
It smells good around here …like something rotting.
Did somebody say dinner? Hang on, I am coming too!
If it’s green I’ll eat it!
