“Let’s be eco-friendly”
Signs around the school
Els Pins school has been labelled with signs to remind everyone to be
Eco-Friendly. All the signs were written in Catalan – our official
language – and in English – the language of the Comenius project. The
children in the Eco-teams, with the help of their classmates, were in
charge to put them in the correct place, depending on the message:
turn off the tap (in the toilets); switch off the lights (in all the
classrooms and offices); look after plants, flowers and trees (in the
garden), etc. Now there is no excuse for not being Eco-Friendly... and
remember that every little helps!!!

Comenius Meeting
On September the 20th all the children and teachers in the school
welcomed our Comenius friends from
Swansea and Vanërsborg. The Eco-teams
organised a tour around the school to
show them all the Eco-friendly actions
that we carry out. They even visited the
vegetable patch of the school!!! After
that, we all joined together in the playground and sang for them the
song of the project – “Save our planet” – and the
song of Pinòs. In the afternoon the teachers had
a meeting and Mr. Wadel, an architect - dad of
two girls in the school -, talked about the
“Westborough Cardboard School” It was very interesting!!!

“Let’s be eco-friendly”
The next day some teachers went to El Prat de Llobregat with our
special guests to visit “Centre Esplai”, a new
and modern building considered an example
of sustainability.
Healthy snacks at school
Every day at 11 am children have a break and go out to the
playground. It’s important to have something to eat because our body
needs energy to do all the activities: read, study, do
sports... That’s why we ask children to bring a
healthy snack, for example, a piece of fruit, a
juice, some cereals or a sandwich to eat during the
break. But, it is also important to try to reduce the
amount of litter that we produce so we try to bring our
snacks in a tupper ware® or in a cloth’s bag. In that way
we avoid using aluminium foil or a plastic bag to put it in
and we don’t fill the bins in the playground everyday.
Agenda 21 Escolar.
Once again some children from our school, this year were Ignaci
Souto, Andrea Ribera, Alex Smith, and
Andrea Illa from Year 4, went to the City
Hall to sign on the project “Agenda 21
Escolar”. It is an action plan inspired on
the principle of sustainability. We’ve
been participating for the last 5 years!!!
