Introduction
• In this presentation we are going to see about “WHAT IS GREEN COMPUTING ?”
• What is there in GREEN COMPUTING ?• Many businesses today are asking the questions:
"What is green computing?" and "Why is green computing so important to society?'‘
• Here there is answers for these type of questions…….
What is GREEN COMPUTING ?
• The study & practice of designing , manufacturing , using and disposing of computers & its related components by efficiently and effectively with minimal or NO IMPACT on the ENVIRONMENT.
Goals
The goals of green computing were similar to green chemistry ,
Reduce use of HAZARDOUS materials
Maximize energy efficiency during the product’s lifetime
Promoting RECYCLABILITY of defect products and factory waste
Approaching Areas
• Product Longevity• Data center design• Software & Development optimization• Power management
Small Statistics
• Electronics makes up approximately 1% of the municipal solid waste stream.
• A few years back a research in Europe shows that ,
ELECTRONIC WASTE = 3 * OTHER MUNICIPAL WASTE
How much E-waste is out there ?
• 133,000 personal computers are discarded by U.S homes businesses each day.
• Each year 130million cell phones are retired.• About68% of consumers used unwanted
computer equipments in their homes.
Individual Green Computing
• power management• Products with adjusting energy levels• Not using old equipments
5 ways to practice Green Computing
Using energy stared products. Switching to sleep mode. Turn off products when it is not currently in
use. Finding Recycler in our area. Smart strip.
Conclusion
• By going "green" in technology we help to promote an eco-friendly and cleaner environment, along with our own benefits by reducing costs, conserving energy, cutting down on waste .
