The Greek Island Odyssey Rally 2014 is hosted by Maggie and Trevor Joyce who lived in Greece for ten years and share their local knowledge with you. The rally is run in late May and early June when the fierce heat of the summer is yet to be felt and the notorious Meltemi winds are still a

month away. We will travel from Athens to Irakleia and end our journey on the island of Paros. Because this is a one way journey and the yachts return taken care of, we travel at ease, take in beautiful islands and completely relax into the rhythm of the Greek culture.

YACHT RALLIES 2014

DAY 1: Arrive in Athens.

Take the opportunity to visit the Acropolis along with its Museum. Have elcome drinks with the group before enjoying your night at leisure in Athens.

DAY 2: Transfer to the base at Lavrion.

Along the way, stop at Sounion, where the temple of Poseidon stands sentinel on a cliff overlooking the Aegean. Board the yachts.

DAY 3: Cruise to Kea 16 nm.

Discover a traditional slice of the Greek Islands and cruise to Kea.

DAY 4: Leisure Day in Kea.

Walk, cycle or taxi to the hilltop chora and visit the lion rock located above the town. Imagine how it came to be in such a location - and why?

DAY 5: Race 1 to Loutra, Kythnos

Kythnos is an unspoiled Greek Island mostly attracting Greek tourists. Locals are very friendly and life is slow. Explore this quiet island with its empty sand beaches and traditional villages. Post-race dinner ashore.

DAY 6: Leisure Day in Kythnos. Explore Loutra, famous for its warm sulphurous spa-waters from springs used since ancient times. Explore the many bays and or one of the towns - Diriopida, Merihas and Chora. Kolona is the most famous of the beaches.

DAY 7: Race 2 to Serifos 21 nm.

Serifos is a quiet traditional Greek Island with the main town perched high above the port. Post-race dinner ashore.

DAY 8: Leisure Day in Serifos.

Undeveloped, Serifos has retained its traditional character. The calm coastline of Serifos is perfect for yachties and many trekking paths ashore offer views of the whole island for the more energetic.

DAY 9: Race 3 to Sifnos 15 nm.

The capital Apollonia is a picturesque village with white cube houses, cobbled streets and a view to the sea. Kastro boasts the most photographed site on Sifnos, a small white church with blue dome. Artemonas and Exabela are known for their traditional architecture. Post-race dinner ashore.

DAY 10: Leisure Day.

The most popular beaches are on the southern side - Vathi, Faros, Platis Gialos and Chrissopigi. In Chrissopigi, there is a beautiful monastery on a rocky peninsula jutting into the sea. The northern shore boasts secret coves. Go and explore!

DAY 11: Race 4 to Antiparos 16 nm.

After a morning cruise to Kitriana, race to the remote bay of Despotiko on the south western shore of Antiparos. Here you will feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle. Dinghy to the Post-race dinner ashore.

DAY 12: Leisure Day

Cruise to Iraklia 18 nm. Iraklia and the neighbouring islands offer splendid isolation to visiting yachties.

DAY 13: Race 5 to Naxos 18 nm.

Naxos is one of the most beautiful of

the Cycladic Islands with a picturesque mixture of Venetian and Greek architecture. Post-race dinner ashore.

DAY 14: Leisure Day.

Choose to enjoy fine sand beaches, fertile valleys, dramatic mountains, historical places of interest and beautiful walking routes.

DAY 15: Race 6 to Paros 8 nm.

Cruise to Naoussa for lunch before the final race to Paroikia, the main port of Paros. Dinner and the final presentation will be held in Paros this evening.

DAY 16: Disembark.

Continue your travels or extend your stay in Paros.
