Brazil september 2005 Danish Ornithological Society The trip was arranged through the Brazilian compagny – Birding Brazil. We went through Pantanal, Southern parts of Amazonas, Chapadas dos Guimaras, Emas Nat.Park, Iguacu and Parque Estadual Intervales. We had a terific trip and saw as many as 635 species of birds of which 36 was only heard. Pantanal was comparatively dry but we saw most of the awaited species. Rio Crystalino had not received much rain, but enough to remove the smoke from the fieldfires around and little enough to expose the tapires that had to be near or in the water. Rio Cristalino was perhaps the greatest experience on the trip with the posibilities of watching birds from the boats, from the 50 meter tower or from the trails if not just from the well situated lodge itself. Emas was far away but well worth going for all th specialities and Iguaću a most with the spectacular fall and the rich forest around. Intervales was a choice from Itatiaia (to where I went with some friends after the trip). In comparison Intervales has more spectacular birds and has got two local guides who knows their birds well. Our guides were all extremely qualified. They were all professionals and entusiastic. We spent 2 full weeks with Braulio Carlos who was committed and showed us world class birds using energy and digital equipment. Miguel Angel guided us the two days in Iguaću. He was a relaxed and very informative person who not only focused on the birds but also other aspects of the nautre. In Intervales Ricardo Parrini joined us the four days and together with two local guides they did a fantastic job finding most of the difficult to get birds. We all seemed to have a great time. This was of course especially because of our always humouristic partisepants who were: Tau Rasmussen, Asger and Grethe Bjoern, Lise Petersen, Lillian Petersen, Leif and Margit Hoegh Olsen, Erik Bjerrehave, Sten Pedersen, Gunnar Goddik, Ian Max Moeller, Kirsten and Eric Schaumburg (leader).
