Radiant ThinkingRadiant Thinking1. A REVOLUTIONARY,

COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO MIND MAPPING ~ USING METHOD OF ACCESSING INTELLIGENCE, DEVELOP OVER TEARS OF EXTENSIVE RESEARCH.

2. IT IS RELEVENT TO ALL AND SUNDRY AS THE TECHNIQUES IS FOR BUSINESS AND EDUCATION.

3. IT IS A COMMUNITIES EFFORT TO ACCELERATE THEIR ABILITIES TO LEARN, REMEMBER AND RECORD INFORMATION.

4. A MIND MAP IS A RADIANT STRUCTURE, REFLECTING THE NATURAL ARCHITECTURE OF THE BRAIN IN ALLOWING A RAPID EXPENSION AND EXPLORATION OF AN IDEA IN NOTE FORM.

5. IT WILL DEPICT A CLEAR PICTURE OR MAP PLOTTING THE RELEVENT POINTS FOR INCLUSION LATER TO WRITTEN MATERIAL.

6. THE IDEA THEN CAN BE TRANSFORMED PROFOUNDLY AND

7. SIMULTANEOUSLY MAINTINING CLEAR FOCUS ON THE CENTRAL THEME..

8. COLORS ARE USED ON SHAPE AND SIZES IN DIMENSIONS AS VISUAL STIMULANT TO HELP MENTAL RECALL & RECOVERY.

ConclusionConclusionHE CONCLUDED IN HIS

RESEARCH THAT THE HUMAN BRAIN FUNCTIONED MORE EFFECTIVELY & EFFICIENTLY SHOULD THE PHYSICAL ASPECT & INTELLECTUAL SKILL WERE TO WORK HARMONIOUSLY ALONDG SIDE.

HE COMBINED TWO SIMPLE SKILLS OF COLORING & WORDS TO DRAW AN IDEA ON PAPER. IT DOES WONDERS. IT IMPROVES ONE MEMORY RECALL.

AS IT DEVELOPS, WITH RADIANT DRAWING THE WHOLE ARCHITECTURE OF THE IDEA WAS LAID BARE FOR THE VISUAL COMMAND TO TAKE OVER. ACCORDING TO BUZAN’S CLAIM, HE BEGAN TRANSFORMING LEARNING DIABLED STUDENT FROM A HOPLESS, BACKWARD, DELIQUENT STUDENT TO TOP STUDENT IN THEIR CLASSES USING RADIANT THINKING TECHNIQUES.

PURPOSE OF MIND MAPPING : DESIGNED TO ENTICE, DELIGHT, STIMULATE & CHALLENGE THE PATH TO FREEDOM THINKING.

TO INTRODUCE TO A NEW CONCEPT IN DEVELOPMENT THINKING.

TO INTRODUCE RADIANT THINKING A NEW ASPECTS OF MIND MAP.

TO GIVE STUDENT THE PATH FOR DEVELOPING THINKING PROCESS AS CREATIVE ABILITY TO THINK THE INFINITE.

TO GIVE PRACTICAL TRAINING OF RADIANT THINKING OF INTELLECTUAL SKILLS AND INTELIGENCE.

TO GIVE A SENSES OF EXCITEMENT & DISCOVERY OF NEW IDEAS AS ONE EXPLORES THE UNIVERSAL ISSUES AT HAND, EVERY TIME AND ALL THE TIME.

Practical application. Student will be asked a story. They will draw as the story unfold to capture the dominant ideas thus generated.

An exercise of the above topics will be shown.

Advantage of mind mapping techniques will realize the student their own prowess and their unique personalities. As they travel the mind map techniques they will pace with their own rhythm that suited them. There for their mastery over the mind mapping technique will enhance their skills conclusively and exactly what they have in their mind transferred on papers.

EDWARD DE BONOEDWARD DE BONOIssue: Vertical thinking vs.

Lateral thinking.EDWARD DE BONO ORIGINATED

THE IDEAS ~ ALL SCHOOLS WERE TAUGHT THAT EMPHASISED ON TRADITIONALLY ALWAYS BEEN ON VERTICAL THINKING WHICH IS EFFECTIVE BUT REMAIN INCOMPLETE.

Page 23: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

EDWARD DE BONO INSISTED THAT THIS TYPE OF SELECTIVE STYLE OF THINKING NEEDED TO BE SUPPLEMENTED WITH GENERATIVE QUALITIES OF CREATIVE THINKING.

DE BONO INTRODUCES TO THE WORLD A PROCESS OF USING INFORMATION TO BRING ABOUT CREATIVITY AND INSIGHT RESTRUCTURING. IT IS AS SIMPLE AS LEARNING abc.

Page 24: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

HOWEVER, DE BONO STRESSED THAT BOTH TYPES OF THINKING ARE COMPLEMENTARY. VERTICAL THINKING IS IMMENSELY USEFUL BUT ONE NEEDS TO ENHANCE ITS MERIT BY ADDING CREATIVITY AND TAMPERING ITS REDGITY.

Page 25: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

USEFULNESS OF LATERAL THINKING: CLOSELY RELATED: INSIGHT, CREATIVITY, LATERAL AND

HUMOR. CULTURE IS CLOSELY RELATED TO ESTABLISHING IDEAS. EDUCATION IS WITH COMMUNICATING THE IDEAS. LATERAL & VERTICAL ARE CONCERNED TO UPDATE THE

IDEAS. TWO CONFLICTING IDEAS EMERGED. ONE IS DOMINANT OVER THE OTHER WHILE THE OTHER

IS SUPPRESSED BUT NOT CHANGED. THE TWO CONFLICTING IDEAS, ONE NEW AND THE

OTHER IS OLD. THE OLD IDEAS IS SUPPOSED TO BE CHANGED BUT IT

DID NOT. NEW METHOD OF SCIENCE ALWAYS SEEK A METHOD OF

SCIENCE TO UPSET NEW IDEAS. IT IS THE METHOD OF HUMAN KNOWLEDGE.

Page 26: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

EDUCATION IS DEVELOP TO THINK IN A SAFE ASSUMPTION.

EG 1=2, 2=3, THEREFORE 1=3. THIS IS THE TRADITIONAL VERTICAL THINKING.

CONFLICTING METHOD IS CHANGING IDEAS. IT DOES NOT COME FROM OUT SIDE BUT FROM INSIGHT.

INSIGHT: THE ONLY KNOWN EFFECTIVE IDEAS TO CHANGE IDEAS IN A MYTH SITUATION. EVEN IN SITU WHERE IDEAS CAN BE OBJECTIVELY SOLVED, AN INSIGHT ARRANGEMENT OF INFO LEADS TO A PROFOUND LEAP FORWARD.

Page 27: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

EG. 1+2=4 WHEN IDEAS LEAD INFORMATION RATHER THAN

LAG BEHIND, PROGRESS IS RAPID. THEREFORE, LATERAL THINKING IS AN INSIGHT TOOL.

INSIGHT, CREATIVITY & HUMOR ARE ELUSIVE BECAUSE THE MIND IS SO EFFICIENT. THE MIND CREATE FUNCTION TO CREATE PATTERNS OUT OF ITDS SURROUNDING.. ONCE THE PATTERN IS FORMED IT IS POSSIBLE TO RECOGNIZE THEM. ~ TO REACT, AND TO USE THEM.

PATTERN USING PATTERN IS A VERY EFFICIENT WAY OF HANDLING INFORMAION. IT FORM A SORT OF A CODE.

A CODE SYSTEM ENABLE ONE TO RECALL INFORMATION JUST AS LIBRARIANMRECALL CATALOGUE CODE NUMBERS.

CONVENIENT TO LIKEN THE MIND AS A INFO HANLING MACHINE.

Page 28: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

The Miracles of the The Miracles of the Human MindHuman MindThe mind in fact is not a machine. It allows the mind to

create a pattern. This self organizing, self maximizing, memory system is very good at creating patterns.

However, once pattern are formed it is not easy to restructure them.. Patterns control attention. Insight, Humor and Creativity helps to release pattern that are rigid and escape them from being close and upfront.

Lateral thinking is creativity. It also a description of a process. It is concerned of generating ideas.

Lateral thinking is concern of breaking concept of prisons of old ideas. It is a New concepts of thinking.

It changes attitude and approach. It seeks new ways of looking at things..

Page 29: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

VT vs. LTVT vs. LTOne looking forward by sequential steps each of

which is justified. Lateral thinking seeks new approach, where it may be wrong at some stages in order to achieve correct solution later stage.◦ Eg. A> B.C>D>E> =F ~ Vertical thinking.◦ Eg. A>B>E>D=F ~ Lateral Thinking.

Vertical thinking derives it powers by justification on all steps. It stamps its authority by logic. Lateral thinking is not arrogance. It can tamper the rigidity.

Both are needed to strengthen the logic. Therefore it is not as a substitute. Lateral thinking enhances vertical thinking. You cannot dig a hole in a different place by digging deeper. Vertical thinking is to dig the hole deeper. Lateral thinking is used to dig a hole in a different place.

Page 30: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

SummarySummary The mind will always work to create fixed concept

patterns also known as cliché pattern. We cannot make the best use of new information unless we have means of restructuring the old pattern an upgrade and update them.

Vertical thinking is concern of proving a concept pattern. Lateral thinking is concern of restructuring patterns (Insight) & provoking new one (Creativity) .

Both are complementary & necessary. Communication in code is possible if there is a preset

pattern. The code acts a s a trigger. Eg. A P Ramlee ‘s Filems. Ali Baba Bujang Lapok.

Pendekar Bujang Lapok, Seniman Bujang Lapok, will trigger happy family reunion. Language is also a code.

The mind is a pattern making system.

Page 31: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

Humour & Insight. The story line will be humour if the switch is sudden. It will be permanent if the switch gives rise to insight.

Once a pattern become polarized it is difficult to abolish. To polarize is to move the info to either extreme instead of maintaining some balance. Eg. A women wears long hairs. Men do not. But if men wore what happen?

The mind is a cliché making and using system. The purpose of lateral Thinking is therefore a

provision or a means for restructuring , and for escaping from cliché patterns. The Mind is good at establishing concept patterns but not for restructuring them for update. It is from this inherent limitation that lateral Thinking comes into play.

Page 32: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

LATERAL V. VERTICAL THINKINGGenerative not Selective.Vertical moves when there is direction, lateral

moves in order to create a direction.Vertical is analytical. Lateral is provocative.Vertical justify each step lateral is not.Vertical thinking uses the negative in order to

blocks off certain pathways, Lateral thinking there is no negative.

Vertical follow the best path, lateral thinking create more best pathways.

Vertical thinking is a finite process lateral, a probability one.

Vertical uses info in order to move forward. Lateral use info not for own sake but provoke to create a new patterning.

Paralyzing ParadigmParalyzing Paradigm De Bono is very fond of using the term cliché pattern or

polarization. But by using paradigm techniques we may soften the blow created by the pattern making mind.

Edward de bono explained :◦ Ask ourselves several question Why?

◦ Belief Culture

◦ Training & educational background.

◦ Organizational behavior.

◦ Local environment.

Paradigm Paralysis is a situation where we are experiencing some losses but our mind is not in a position to think out of the problem and to escape from its imposition.

We are governed by our paradigm to understand the outside world.

Page 34: Great contributors in THINKING Part 1I UHS 2122. Search a brief bio on: F Tony Buzan. F Edward de Bono. Search notes on RADIANT THINKING & LATERAL THINKING

Eg. Kuartz Watches use n throw ~ 1968 V. automatic spring & gear bearing hand made watches~ 10 years after. Paradigm of old is maintained but the new paradigm is challenging the process of time. Paradigm is indeed educational experiences. Included in the experience are, education, belief system cultural & environment. In the 70s the whole world was dependent to Europe & the US for all goods and sundry. The expert knew what to expect from heir clients. Based on consumer spending habits they predicted that the consumer was selfish. They need a big size products that were durable and long lasting. Japan scientist challenge the concept that man is stereotype into boringness, and that their preferences remain unchanged. Japan changed the expensive taste to that consumer was entitled to change (dispose) product selectively with wastage and at cheaper cost, in contrast to the west paradigm everlasting an expensive.

Japan was the least countries they would look into in to buying products. These paradigm paralyze the scientific creativity of the European. Hence

there two paradigm that consumers were looking at. One a guarantee agreement to repair if a product went berserk against a Japanese warranty to change the product altogether at lower cost. The rest was history. This is the reasons why our paradigm went bust or paralyze, because our mind is incapable of thinking the way out through creativity and the resultant innovation was not strong enough to spark a paradigm change. The rotting ideas were not even challenge any more hence this polarization pattern becomes a fear factor for European innovators to move in on its credibility and its functional utility.
