Mr. Greg Judy Greg and Jan Judy of Clark, Missouri run a grazing operation on 1620 acres of leased and owned land. Greg and Jan went from near bankruptcy in 1999 to paying off a 200 acre farm & house in 3 years with custom grazing on leased land and
are completely debt free today. Greg wrote a book in 2001, entitled “NO RISK RANCHING, Custom Grazing On Leased Land”, which gives a complete breakdown on the methods they used to build their operation from scratch. In 2008 Greg wrote a second book “COMEBACK FARMS, Rejuvenating Soils, Pastures and Profits with Livestock Grazing Management”. Greg’s newest book covers all the methods they use with Holistic High Density Grazing, multi-species grazing, grass finishing animals, eliminating costly inputs. Greg has given numerous talks and schools all over the US, New Zealand & Canada teaching the benefits of Holistic High Density Planned Grazing, leasing land, multi-species grazing, custom grazing, agroforestry and wildlife management. Greg does consultant work for other people interested in setting up HHDG grazing systems. Greg quit his off farm job in 2009 and is now a full time rancher.
Schedule of Events
Dr. Matt Poore Dr. Matt Poore was born in rural So. Virginia before mov-ing to Arizona with his family at a young age. He spent sum-mers working in tobacco, fixing fences, putting up hay, and working with the cattle on his family’s farm near So. Boston, Virginia. While growing up in N. Arizona, Dr. Poore also
worked on a variety of ranches & helped his sib-lings manage a small herd of dairy goats. Currently Dr. Poore’s educational program focuses on increasing the attention producers pay to man-aging their production systems including adding value to calves through backgrounding and allied marketing programs, reducing hay use by extend-ing the grazing season, using rotational manage-ment to enhance forage production and utilization, and improving manure nutrient distribution to reduce fertilizer needs. To address growing de-mand for finished beef from local pasture-based systems, Dr. Poore is working with a network of producers developing systems to produce high quality beef with minimal supplementation on high quality pasture.
