Samantha has many interests which include sports like softball, and kickball, she enjoys hiking and fishing, and she is very artistic.Sam loves going to the movies and Hanging out with her friends.Sam is an excellent drawer and spends quality time coming upwith some very interesting drawings. When Sam was muchyounger she would disappear for hours and emerge from herroom with books she made from start to finish including the text, illustrations, and binding. Samantha plays softball for “ScottsdaleMiss Softball” for 5 years now and she plays most infield positionsbut she enjoys pitching the most. Sam has become a pretty solidpitcher and she gets calls from club teams from time to time tofill in for them as a pitcher. She recently pitched in a tournamentin Pine top for the Scorpions which was really fun. She has alsoplayed for the Mountain trail middle school team. Samantha is

looking forward to Pinnacle High softballtryouts early in 2014.

Samantha’s mom was born in the Philippinesand her strong family heritage is evident inSam. She’s a perfectionist. When she doessomething, she doesn’t stop till it’s done right. She’s also a prominent shopper like her mom.

If Sam’s not on the ball field, she’s probably at Desert ridge or PVor fashion square shopping. It’s in her blood and boy is she goodat shopping!

Sam’s favorite foods are sushi and many Filipino foods like pancit, egg rolls, and siopao. She also digs burritos and pizza and of courseIce Cream. Sam likes to go with her friends on school half days toPei Wei, the Yogurt Bar, and Tart and Toppings in the fry’s plaza atGRAYHAWK.Samantha was reallyexcited whenPortillos opened arestaurant inScottsdale. Whenever we go hometo Chicago to visit, portillos is a mustvisit many timesover. Now withPortillos inScottsdale, Sam misses Chicago alittle less.

Sam has a big extended familywith lots of cousins, aunts anduncles, and she has recentlybecame and auntie twice. She hasa new niece in Chicago and one in Oceanside, California, both inthe last year. When she was just in Chicagofor the summer she was a mentor at her Vacation bible school atour old church. She took care and helped outwith over 70 youngsters who just love Sam.

Samantha Metzl’s future is Bright. She knowsit takes hard work and perseverance to getwhere you want to go but she is willing to dowhat it takes. Look for her around town andon the softball field.

Born in Iowa, Tye Kassen movedto Scottsdale with his parents in2008 when he was 6 years-oldand began attending GrayhawkElementary School. Today, Tye is12 years-old and is currently insixth grade at Grayhawk. Tye,like most kids his age, enjoysplaying basketball and football. He loves riding dirt bikes andplaying PS3, and he can recite thespecs of almost any sports car

or supercar. Unlike kids his age however, Tye is 5’ 11”, weighs190 pounds, wears a men’s size 14 shoe, and is a competitivepowerlifter.

Weight lifting is not new to Tye. His parents both compete inthe world of weights; his mother competes in bodybuildingand his father is a competitive powerlifter. So, the lifestyle iscertainly familiar to him. However, in June 2012 at age 11, Tyeattended a WABDL (World Association of Bench Pressers andDead Lifters) powerlifting meet in Phoenix, Arizona, where hewatched his father compete in bench press. Tye watched asboys as young as 12 and 13 also competed. It was then thathe decided he would compete the following year. He wasdetermined to not only win his class, but he also wanted toset an Arizona state record.

Tye began training with his father who taught him the basicsof bench press, how to stabilize the bar above him, and propertechnique. Tye’s father also showed himbodyweight exercises like pushups, situps and dipsthat would help his bench press. Tye wasimmediately able to bench 85 pounds. He thenbegan training with his father’s coach, Reid Solar, and other teammates and studied material writtenby elite powerlifters. He had a goal and wasdetermined to achieve it!

On June 8, 2013, one week after his 12th birthday,Tye competed in his firstpowerlifting meet. He wasnervous at first, but he had putin the work and his coach wascertain he would reach his goal. His first attempt at 93.2 pounds

was a successful lift and an Arizona state record. His next liftat 99.0 pounds was also successful and another Arizona staterecord. His third lift of 104.5 pounds was successful as well, but the lift was disqualified on a technicality; Tye hadinadvertently adjusted his grip on the bar, which is not allowedafter lift-off.Tye had onelift remainingand only onemore shot athis goal ofexceeding100 pounds. For his finallift, he againattempted104.5pounds. Focused and determined to win, he successfullypressed his final lift, setting a new (and current) Arizona staterecord, and he qualified for the WABDL World Finals.

Tye continues to train with his father and team at Gold’s Gymin North Scottsdale and keeps getting stronger. Today he islifting 145 pounds for multiple reps. On November 10, 2013,Tye will compete in Reno, Nevada at the WABDL World Finalswhere he is expected to break not only his own Arizona staterecord, but he is also expected to set a new WORLDRECORD in bench press! We wish him the best at the WorldFinals!

Welcome to the end of summer, and thebeginning of our wonderful cool season.

I have been getting feedback from some of our readers who enjoy both thehumor and content of my Spotlight on Business section. Thank you for thesupport and keep the feedback coming. RL

This months article is due in large to a request that came to me from one ofour clients who is also a reader of the publication, “Rob, I like the article youdid on the barber and others, but give me some options in the future.”

The future is here, I give you Brannon Waldman Dental Group. I know whatyou’re thinking, “another dentist?” Yes, another dentist. I realize that the way Iwrite almost feels like an endorsement, and it is. This is the Dental groupthat most of my Partners (PUBLISHERS) in the newsletter use, and I have heardnothing but how wonderful they are, so if you have to have somebody’s fingerstouching your teeth, it should be somebody wonderful.

“Just take a quick look at the back cover of this newsletter and you will seethe result of the work these guys can do. You don’t think Andrew Bloom wouldsmile that big if he had bad teeth do you? Check these guys out!!!!

Here is something I (“FEARLESS”) DID NOT KNOW!!!

Sedation Dentistry is practiced here.

Sedation dentistry, as the name implies, is a technique used by a traineddentist to provide a relaxing and anxiety-free experience for people receivingdental treatment. A major benefit to the sedation technique is that peopleoften feel the procedure lasts only a few minutes when in fact, it might havetaken hours to perform. Most people rarely feel any discomfort after theprocedure.

Many people avoid visiting the dentist because of the common dental phobia.Avoiding regular dental treatment often results in neglect of oral health andappearance, up to and beyond the point when drastic measures becomenecessary. Sedation dentistry addresses this phobia, allowing people to undergodental work while avoiding this common apprehension. Additionally, sedationdentistry is such that complex dental procedures normally requiring numerousvisits can often be performed in just one or two sittings. Many dentists nowoffer sedation dentistry; however, the level of experience among dentists insedation dentistry varies.

Cast aside your dental phobias through sedation dentistry.

I borrowed this from their website, which is an awesome website, you shouldvisit it before you make your appointment www.brannondental.com.

BORROWERS IMPROVING

FINANCIAL HEALTH Making a Home Purchase Easier

MORTGAGES ARE EASIER TO GET THESE DAYS. Buying a home can be quite a daunting task. You have to save

home. However, according to a recent LendingTree report, becoming a new home owner might have become a little easier.

The report showed that based on average credit scores, loan-to-value ration and overall lendability, U.S. borrowers

that prospective buyers have increased their credit scores by an average of 10 points and reduced loan-to-value ratios by 1.6 percent, helping them qualify for a mortgage.

“It is encouraging to see a shift towards more responsible borrowing. Higher credit scores and improved LTVs are a

health,” said Doug Lebda, LendingTree founder and CEO. “As the housing market bounces back, credit is becoming more accessible, making it easier for consumers to qualify for mortgages. But consumers still need to monitor their

This information is based on all costs associated with buying and renting when compiling the information, including upfront payments, closing costs, anticipated monthly rent and mortgage payments, insurance, taxes, utilities and maintenance costs.

“Locally high home value appreciation in many areas, combined with historically low mortgage rates and low home prices relative to recent peaks, has made buying

Even in areas with relatively low breakeven horizons, buyers should resist the temptation to buy and sell properties based only on short-term goals.”
