Grizzly bears and cougars roamedthe grasslands. There were also large herds of

Pronghorn antelope , mule ,deer and whitetailed deer.

Winters are generally milder and chinooks are common in many places such as calgary

Bodies Of Water

• In some areas the rivers in the region run through deep valleys and canyons. In this region the heaviest use of water is for farming.

Natural Resources

In 2004 there were about 53,000 farms in Alberta farmers depend on good whether and soil and water to grow healthy, plentiful crops

Vegetation

• Large areas where tall grass and few trees grow are called prairies. In the last 100 years settlement and development has changed in this region.

LandformsThe badlands is an area in the southeastern part of the grassland region. Usually flat although there are a few hilly areas.
