Over the course of their studies, students are encouraged to go beyond visual communication and involve sound, texture, and even smell and taste. As with many other domains, the power of graphic designs grows when combined with other disciplines, for example fine arts, architec-ture, film, theatre, but also mathematics, biology or social sciences.

Graduating from the Graphic Design department means becoming an investigative designer who is aware of current affairs, chooses her/his medium wisely, and is familiar with both tradi-tional media and new media. As a graduate you may enrol in a Master programme in design (MA Design) or art (MA Fine Arts). In addition to our own Master programmes in Non Linear Narrative and Type and Media, graduates have gone on to pursue master’s degrees at many renowned institutions.

This programme equips you to become a critical thinker and versatile practitioner who can develop outstanding concepts for visual communication. We encourage students to ask questions about the social responsibilities of a contemporary designer, tackle challenges posed by the rapidly evolving new-media land-scape, and seek answers to the problems of tomorrow. During your studies, you will explore all the aspects of visual communication and experience the work process from formulating a business plan to presenting the final result.

The programme is built around four main courses: design, interaction, image and typography, and numerous electives including PlayLab, Letterstudio and Design Office. Our department is internationally known for its high level of education, its investigative and conceptual teaching approach, and excellence in the fields of typeface design and typography.
