PROJECT 6 ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVES PROCESS SPECIFICATIONS DUE DATES Editorial Illustration Finals will be 3 pages. The cover page will include your name and your mind maps as well as the topic you were assigned. Pages 2-3 will be Facing. Each page will measure 8.5"x 11". I will be collecting the native layered file and a flattened PDF. All files will be labeled “your last name” on our Google Classroom drive. In your conceptual process for the illustration, consider ways to visually describe the assigned subject through metaphor rather than literal depiction (examples will be present- ed by the instructor). Explore through sketches, a number of concepts. The illustration should be drawn in pencil on appropriate drawing paper. The headline for the article should be created using hand-lettering. The letter-forms in the headline can be based on existing typefaces or can be original letter-forms of your own creation. Don't use expressive or decorative fonts for the subhead or body copy. Use standard serif or sans-serif typefaces available in the type collection in InDesign for the subheads and body copy. The type size of the body copy should probably be around 10-11 points. The subhead type shouldn't compete with the headline for attention, probably best to keep it between 14 to 24 points in size. Create your InDesign document as per the demonstration in class. Place your illustration, headline treatment and body copy and arrange within the grid guides. Export your docu- ment as a PDF high-quality print file. To refine a concept from inception to execution To demonstrate unique images based off of mind mapping To demonstrate a clear delineation of hierarchy Work with type as a component of design Use layers effectively Create a hand-drawn illustration that reflects written content supplied by the instructor and to use the illustration and typographic content as elements in a two-page magazine layout to be generated in Adobe InDesign.
