2016 - 2017
District Deputy Grand Master
R. W. Bro. Andrew B. Ciastek
A Message from the District Deputy Grand Master
Of Eastern District
Let me first thank you, the Brethren of Eastern District, for all your support Over the past several years, resulting in our Grand Master, confirming me as Eastern District’s DDGM for the 2016-17 Masonic year. Since my Initiation, I have broadened my scope of Masonic participation and have adopted Masonry as my way through life. Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth are my guide in my professional and personal life. Of equal importance, I have found that you get from Masonry what you are willing to put into it. Enjoy your time with our Fraternity ! I hope each of you may increase your participation in some aspect of Your Lodge, and thus achieve a greater sense of satisfaction from our Masonic Arts. Be the example of the ideal of a Freemason, for our new members as they advance in our Craft. Thus my theme for the year:
“To Make a Daily Advancement in Masonic Knowledge”. I encourage you to add to your knowledge of the Ritual, participate in Lodge work, and most important, mentor the candidates of your Lodge as they progress in Masonry. That they will ultimately reflect honour on your choice. Best Fraternal Regards, R. W. Bro. Andrew B. Ciastek District Deputy Grand Master (Eastern) 5255 Grande Montee St Eugene, ON, K0B-1P0 514-953-7805 [email protected]

Eastern District, Book of the Work Buyback Program
The Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario has as its current Book of the Work dated 2013.
My project is to buy back all the old books of the Work and take them out of circulation. As an incentive, I will offer $1 to each Book returned. By the end of my term, I will make a matching donation to the Myeloma Canada Foundation of $1 for each Book of the Work collected in Eastern District.
R.W.Bro. Andrew Ciastek, Eastern DDGM

District Charity Projects
2016-17
Prostate Hope Eastern District will continue to support the Grand Master’s Prostate Hope Charity. Last year our district, in conjunction with matching funds from our community banks, the Masonic Foundation of Ontario and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, was able to raise over $80,000. This concerted effort hopes to raise One Million Dollars to be applied towards research and awareness of this very serious disease that affects one in seven men over the age of 55. Early detection and diagnosis is one of the best ways to conquer this disease and in this respect we will encourage our members to have annual testing. Funds collected under various activities scheduled for the coming 12 months will be directed to support research into new medical treatments for prostate cancer patients. Masonic Association of Eastern District Student Bursary The District continues to support local students through the MAED Bursary Program. Over the years, tens of thousands of dollars have been awarded to dozens of students eager to continue post secondary education. Our children are our future. Let’s give them every opportunity to advance their education in these times of reduced opportunities and higher competition. We encourage our members to make a tax deductible contribution to the MAED Bursary to help support this important educational support program. Make your cheque payable to: Masonic Association of Eastern District and specify Bursary Fund in the memo line. Multiple Myeloma Canada In support of my theme promoting “to make a daily advancement in Masonic knowledge”, I am instituting a “Book of the Work Buy Back Program”. To encourage uniformity of ritual work in our district it is my desire to have everyone with only the latest version of our Work. I am offering $1 for the return of each out of date Book of the Work. ( Current revision is 2013) Furthermore I will make a contribution of $1 to the Multiple Myeloma Canada, involved in the research of several debilitating blood cancers.
