Council Meeting Notes
June 22, 2021
The Council was called to order at 6pm by G.K. Alan Godin
Opening Prayer Offered by: WGK Alan
Roll Call of Officers: All in attendance except for Outside Guard,
Chancellor, Inside Guard, Chaplain and Chancellor
Chaplain’s Message: None
Reading of Minutes of Previous Meeting:
No minutes read:
Note: Minutes will be published on the council’s web page and may
not be read at future council meetings.
Grand Knight’s Report: WGK Alan recounted how the last 15 months
had been a tumultuous period.
WGK reported he has not been vaccinated and does not want the
injections (personal reasons). A discussion followed as to whether the
WGK is in violation of any protocol, legal obligation or Diocesan ruling.
No decision was agreed upon.
WGK Alan presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to Fr. Jim, on
behalf of OLD, at the Knights mass on June 12.
Jessica, from Net Ministries, came to thank the council for their
generous support of her religious training for last year, which allows her
to focus on training and service to youth. She is going to continue her
service for another year. A $400 donation has been approved for the
21-22 Columbian year.
Treasurer Report: Checking account balance is $9,512.57. The CD
account stands at $10.908.87. Here is the list of expenditures: $275.48
for bulletin board construction; $163.89 for council room mini
refrigerator; $1,000 for OLD donation; $162 for Memorial Day flowers
for the church.
We received $500 from Supreme for our food collections for the Food
Pantry.
Report of Standing Committees:
A. Membership: FS Steve Sykes stated 3 new members had joined.
Our goal is 7. Mr. Garcia had not completed his registration.
B. Faith: Br. Oscar reported that the Knights had given our rosaries
for all the First Communion children at last Saturday’s masses. He
thanked Bros. Sergio and Armando for their help!!!
C. Family: No report.
D. Community: WDGK Ruben: next cleanup is scheduled for August.
Date and time will be announced in the future. Br. Gary Thomas
noted that there will be a flag burning on June 26 in conjunction
with the Scouts. He stated that synthetic flags cannot be burned.
Those flags can be cut up and thereby not considered a flag.
Information on disposal of synthetic flags is ongoing.
E. Youth Br. Tony Forcinel said the Scouts were having a great time
at their summer camp especially because of our recent donation.
F. Culture of Life: WGK Alan stated the next blood drive, in
celebration of Independence Day, is July 11 at the ministry
building. He said it is best to make an appointment, rather than
walk-in. The following blood drive will be on Oct. 10th.
G. Spiritual Adoption: First month the baby is 1” long, heart starts
beating. A plan is being developed to make Spiritual Adoption
announcements prior to the start of mass. Volunteers are needed.
Another suggestion is to have the Spiritual Adoption prayer
posted in the bulletin.
H. Sunshine: Br. Tony LaCivita mailed out 13 Birthday cards.
I. Br. Tony Forcinel contacted Corky’s about a 15% rebate. No
answer so far. Bro. Oscar was asked to check on Applebee’s to
find out if there fundraising breakfasts are back on schedule.
J. 4th Degree Report: Br. Gary Thomas had reported on the flag
burning event on 6/26.
K. Initiations: None
L. Unfinished Business: None
M. New Business: Br. Ralph wished to thank all those who
volunteered to help clean the church is past Monday and to those
who helped with the watering of the plants around the Church.
Br. Ralph noted how many changes have occurred in the past 20
years (16 years as an officer) in the relationship of the Knights and
OLD. If the parish priest supports our activities, we benefit greatly.
At the same time, if the Church needs help, it is often that the
Knights are called on first to help. Stanton has an office near the
Planned Parenthood facility. Perhaps a rosary can be prayed at
the Stanton office, so we cannot be denied a permit to hold an
event? A plaque for AB Brand for his 70 years as a Knight (Feb
2022) was discussed. Cost is approximately $250. July 4th is Fr.
Henry’s 67th year in the priesthood. A motion was made by FS
Steve Sykes; second by Br. Jason to present Fr. Henry $300 for his
service. Motion was passed.
Auditors Report: All in order; bank statements are accurate.
Insurance Agent: No report.
District Deputy: No report
Financial Secretary: Steve Sykes said our council is in good standing.
Chaplain Summation: none
Closing Prayer: WGK Alan
Other Notes: These minutes reflect new council meeting guidelines.

Father McGivney Prayer
God our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan,
you called your priest, Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of
Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their
neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son,
Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up
His body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to
greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the
needy and outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your Blessed servant, Father
Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of Your holy will. Through
his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Our
Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be….
St. Michael the Archangel,
Defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the
devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, O Prince of the
heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Treasurer’s June 25, 2021
As we started Columbian Year 2020-2021, the Council was unsure what
revenue would be generated to support our various charitable
activities. Luckily, the Council has reserves from prior years that would
help us survive the year. Expenditures exceeded the income for an
annual net deficit of only $2,866. Despite not having many of our
normal Fund Raisers we were still able to support the Intellectual
Disabilities drive with a record amount of $2,320 and raise $2,431 for
the Boy Scouts. The Council also provided an additional $1,000 the
help the parish and also purchased/installed a much-needed vestment
cabinet to the parish.
I would like to thank everyone for their help in making this year despite
the many obstacles we faced.

Prayer for Unborn Human Life
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the
unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.
Spiritual Adoption Month 2
I am dancing!
The baby is making rapid progress developing all their external and internal organs. During the second month baby teeth form and their fingers and toes are developing. Ears, nose, lips and tongue an now be clearly seen. Even their brain waves can now be recorded. The skeleton changes from cartilage to bone. The central nervous system is now functioning and so forty muscle sets begin their first exercise. By 8 weeks all body systems are present and the baby is called a “fetus”. A Latin word meaning “little one” or “young one”. Ultrasound reveals that this little one can now spring and jump – their first dance steps!

Dear Brother Knights,
Our council needs your help for the 2021 fund raising drive for the
Columbian Foundation for People with Intellectual Disabilities. This
annual drive is an important effort the Knights of Columbus undertake
to raise monies for intellectually disabled children. Each year our
council participates in this event and donates the proceeds to Apple
Valley programs for special needs children. Last year our council
presented a check for $2270.00 to the Apple Valley Special Apples. This
year we would like to match or even beat this amount. Your
contribution will bring smiles to the faces of the children here in Apple
Valley.
Since many members of the council have extremely busy schedules and
have difficultly providing hours of volunteer work, the fund raising
committee is requesting a monetary contribution from every council
member in lieu of the volunteer Tootsie roll drive. I ask every council
member to take this opportunity to strongly demonstrate the first two
principles of our order, CHARITY and UNITY.
Together we generate a substantial monetary contribution to help
children with intellectual disabilities. We hope every brother knight in
our council can contribute to help surpass last year's donation.
Please, be generous in your contribution to this effort and remember
that your donation is tax deductible. This is your opportunity to enable
this council to serve as an example of Charity in our community by
helping children with special needs.
Thank You,
Ralph Knipstein
Advocate
2021 Fund Raising Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
Please make your check payable to “Knights of Columbus” in the memo section of
your check, please write “Columbian Foundation”.
