  • 2. Persuasive Writing1. Our Environment

AT Environment play a very important role in the lives of plants, animals and human beings. In any given environment, plants and animals depend upon each other and form a balanced community. The important natural resources are the soil, water, forests, minerals, coal, oil and all kinds of plants and animals. Since the supply of natural resources is limited, we must use them wisely and avoid wastage. It is very important for us to conserve soil, forests, coal, oil and wildlife.

Man has spoilt environment by introducing impurities into the air, water and soil, these dangerous chemicals have made the air unsafe for breathing and the water unsafe for drinking. A large number of diseases have resulted as a result of air and water pollution. Air is polluted by smoke from homes, fuels from factories and exhaust gases from vehicles. Water is polluted by animals bathing in it, household wastes, sewage and discharge from factories going into it.

It is our duty to preserve the world environment for the benefit of the future generations. World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year.

Let’s save the planet earth, it is the only one we have’.

    2. Good Manners The way we conduct ourselves towards our fellow beings in public is

called manners. It is generally a term used to describe the way we talk, move and behave. From early childhood, one should be taught good manners. It is not only the school but also the atmosphere at home that helps us to acquire good manners. When we meet people we should wish them. While waiting in a queue it is wise to observe the rules. We shouldn’t break the queue, nor push and jostle the people. We must not talk with food in the mouth in a restaurant. At the dining table, we should not gesture widely with the hands. In a crowded bus, if we offer as seat to an old man or help the disabled to cross a busy street, we have good manners. One must not talk loudly or rudely. Politeness helps us to gain friends. Respect to older people and our parents is a must saying ‘thank you’ or ‘please’ will not cost us any thing. By gossiping, we hurt other people. To give a hand to a person in distress goes a long way in building a healthy personality. An apology if we are late for an appointment means the cultivation of gracious manners. A pleasant smile helps us to win friends and ease tension. Good manners reveal our character in everyday situations.
