Design: Ann Linderhjelm www.ullcentrum.com Email: [email protected] Tel: +46 (0)485 29010 Graffiti mitts Size: Lady Materials 140 g Ullcentrum’s Lovikka yarn Double pointed needles size 4.5 mm/US 7 Crochet hook Markers Pattern Cast on 28 sts = 7 sts per needle, if using 2 colours, one round the thumb and one round the index finger Purl 1 rnd with colour from index finger With colour from thumb, knit 4 rnds Start either regular or irregular striping but instead of breaking yarn when changing colours carry them loosely upward on wrong side of mitt Work 1517 rnds, then start thumb gusset: Right hand: Needle 3: incr. 1 sts in second st every second rnd x 4 times Needle 3, next rnd: k1, put 8 sts on a separate piece of yarn, with Knit Cast On method cast on 4 new sts, k2 Left hand: Needle 2: incr. 1 st in second to last st every second rnd x 4 times Needle 2, next rnd: k2, put 8 sts on a separate piece of yarn, with Knit Cast On method cast on 4 new sts, k1 Continue to work in the round on mitt for 1720 rnds from thumbhole Decreases: Needle 1 & 3: k1, sl1, k1, psso Needles 2 & 4: when 3 sts remain, k2tog, k1 Decrease every rnd x 2 times, then every second rnd until 8 sts remain Put the stitches from needles 1 & 2 on one marker and from needles 3 and 4 on another marker Break yarn leaving approx. 15 cm Tip: Increase: knit front and back loop in same st Abbreviations: st = stitch, rnd = round, incr. = increase, k = knit, sl1 k1 psso = slip 1, knit 1 pass the slipped stitch over, k2tog = knit 2 together

    Turn mitt inside out and transfer sts from resp. marker to 2 needles Pull sts from back needle through resp. st on front needle and drop the back st = 4 sts on one needle Transfer sts to a crochet hook, pull yarn through, attach and weave in all loose ends Turn mitt right side out Thumb: Divide 4 sts + 4 sts across 2 needles k8, pick up 4 sts over thumbhole with third needle = 12 sts Knit 12 rnds Decreases: k2tog at the beginning of ea needle until 3 sts remain Break yarn, pull it through remaining sts and weave in on the wrong side Close any possible hole at the bottom of thumb Put mitts in hot water with some soap, fluff up inside and outside with a hard brush, rinse thoroughly, putting a bit of white vinegar in the last rinse and put to dry
