Purpose

• To identify the graduation plan options available to Millsap ISD students in order that parents can help their student select the best graduation plan for them.

Things to consider….

College Bound?• Consider taking dual credit courses

while in high school. (Refer to handout)

• Must pass college entrance testing to qualify (TSI). Given at MHS.

• These core courses transfer to all public colleges.

• Some high school courses can be awarded technical college credit.

Work Bound?• Many high school courses offer the

opportunity to test for work place certifications which will enhance your employability options!

Military Bound?

• Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines,

Coast Guard, National Guard?

• Must have a high school diploma

or 15 college credit hours

• ASVAB—Armed Services Vocational

Assessment Battery—Very Important!

Determines your vocation (job) in

the military services plus your pay!

• Given at MHS during junior year.

All other grades optional.

• Recruiters from all branches on

campus to visit with students

throughout the year.

What is an ‘endorsement’?

Students choose to take a specific group of courses which will allow them to gain greater knowledge about certain careers or academic areas of interest.

Students must choose ONE endorsement, but may have several endorsements.

Distinguished Achievement

To be considered in the “Top 10% of the Class for automatic admission”, students must have:

• Algebra II success

• A total of four credits in science

• The remaining curriculum requirements

• Graduate with at least one Endorsement
