TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CAREER

What inspires and motivates you?

Perhaps it’s building lasting relationships? Or participating in and delivering meaningful work for real clients?

If these attributes are important to you, you’ll probably have a few things in common with the people who work at William Buck.

William Buck is a leading firm of Chartered Accountants and Advisors with offices across Australia and New Zealand. We operate in an environment built on teamwork and respect, where the skills you learn have lasting value and will form the foundations of your career.

Is William Buck for you?

We look for people who thrive on a challenge and are willing to be hands-on from day one. People who are forward thinking, enthusiastic and have the flexibility to embrace change and adapt to a fast paced business environment.

Our strength resides in our unique philosophy summed up by the simple phrase, ‘Changing Lives’.

We’ve developed this philosophy in recognition of the role we play in the lives of our clients, employees and the wider community.

As a phrase, Changing Lives is simple, but very powerful.

Everything we do has the potential to make a change; big or small. Knowing that every action has an impact leads to a culture of accountability and innovation. Our people embrace change, never become comfortable with the status quo and search for new ways to make a positive difference in the lives of those around them.

CHANGING LIVES

“At William Buck we recognise that our people are our success and have a strong focus on developing the person as well as the profession”

Mark CollinsManaging Director

We strive to be real agents for change in our community.

Embracing the issues that are important to our people and clients, we undertake a range of initiatives to provide support for charities and organisations most in need.

William Buck fosters a culture where employees take ownership for giving back to the community through donations, fund-raising or sponsorship. This is promoted through our relationship with The Quality of Life Foundation (QOLF). QOLF’s five core support areas are: People, Environment, Animals, Culture and Education (PEACE).

Each year our employees are asked to take an active part in our Corporate Social Responsibility by letting us know which organisations they wish to help by way of financial assistance through QOLF.

We’re more than just advisors to our clients. We provide the support, insights and expertise they need to realise their goals and overcome any challenges.

Often we help clients at the most pivotal points in their lives - starting and growing businesses, managing succession from one generation to the next, preparing for retirement or even assisting with their estate management.

But it’s not just the pivotal moments that matter, our people also support and add value to our clients in their day-to-day businesses and circumstances.

I joined William Buck as a graduate in 2007, and had no idea how far afield my job would take me.

In 2011, a fantastic secondment opportunity in America came up and while I was quietly petrified, I knew it would change my life.

In just 5 months, I met an incredible range of people, and was really challenged professionally. I grew up more in that short time than in the 5 years prior - there’s no other situation where I could learn as much as I did so quickly.

Personally, I was pushed out of my comfort zone and had to fend for myself in ways I’d never done until then. Sure I was 26, but where was Mum to cook me a meal?

When I came back, people noticed a change in my confidence. I’d always had a good work ethic, but now I was even more focused in my personal values such as teamwork and people-managing. I think success really is all about attitude.

This amazing experience broadened my perspective and has helped my journey at William Buck in ways I’m still discovering today.
