DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service Study Scholarship and

Research Fellowship Information Session DAAD Fellowships provide support for study in Germany. The following opportunities

through DAAD are generally most relevant for graduate students: study scholarships

(provide an opportunity to do independent study in Germany or to complete a full

Master's degree), research grants (primarily to do doctoral research). As a partner

university, DAAD encourages the UA to select one priority candidate. Priority

candidates from partner universities receive preferential status in the general fellowship

competitions and have a considerably higher likelihood of being selected. The

information session will cover the basics of the study scholarship and research

scholarships as well as the priority candidacy process.

FinancialCAD Corporation (FINCAD) Women in Finance Scholarship The field of finance is changing rapidly, largely in response to regulations designed to protect market practitioners and to prevent financial crises. FINCAD has long believed that deep market knowledge, transparency and trustworthiness play a critical role in making financial markets safe for all participants. In addition, FINCAD is keenly aware

that the majority of practitioners in the capital markets industry are men, and that the trend to include more women in the industry is not as rapid as it should be. For these reasons, FINCAD established our annual Women in Finance Scholarship. The goal is to encourage and support outstanding women in the field of finance, particularly those pursuing careers in financial asset management, market risk management and

derivatives finance within the capital markets. The FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship is an award of US$20,000 to support graduate-level studies.

We would like to bring to your attention 4 new transdisciplinary research areas for encouraging graduate training activities at the convergence of multiple disciplines and communities, including Microelectronics, Data Science, Fundamental Symmetries, and Accelerator Science. We strongly encourage applications in these areas. The award period for the proposed

research project at DOE laboratories may range from 3 to 12 consecutive months.

This fellowship provides recipients the opportunity to pursue independent research while working alongside some of the nation's best scientists and engineers. Applicants must display extraordinary ability in scientific research and show clear promise of becoming outstanding leaders. Successful candidates will have already tackled a major scientific or

engineering problem or will have provided a new approach or insight, evidenced by a recognized impact in their field.

• Deadline: May 29, 2020

Experimental Psychology Society (EPS) Postdoctoral Grants for Study

Visits This scheme aims to help finance postgraduate and postdoctoral research in experimental psychology. Awards will pay for travel to and accommodation at another institution outside an individual’s academic base. The purpose of the visit is to develop

the applicant’s research skills, and may involve learning at first hand about experimental procedures employed in the host laboratory, or designing and running studies that cannot already be carried out in the applicant’s home department. Awards will not be granted for work which forms an integral part of an existing Ph.D research project, nor for work which would normally be funded by other bodies (e.g. the

applicant’s award-granting body or home institution). Applicants must be (a) registered for a Ph.D. or (b) postdoctoral workers who received their Ph.D within the previous five years. Applicants may be of any nationality. It is a further condition of the award that either the researcher’s home institution or the institution to be visited, or both, must be in the UK. Preference will be given to applicants supervised by an EPS member, or

whose visit involves a project with an EPS member.

Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) Human Biology Project The Human Biology Project was launched in 2013 with the goal of fostering innovative research in collaboration with HD clinics to better understand the biology of Huntington's disease as it occurs in humans. HDSA encourages researchers to consider

one of HDSA's 50 Centers of Excellence as a potential collaborator, but applicants may propose to work with any HD clinic around the world. This opportunity is open to

Institut Pasteur Postdoctoral Grants Calmette and Yersin The Institut Pasteur Department of International Affairs finances postdoctoral fellowships each year to promote and facilitate postdoctoral traineeships for French and foreign researchers within an institute of the Institut Pasteur International Network

(RIIP) outside metropolitan France. Any subject covered by RIIP institute laboratories: research into infectious diseases (infectious physiopathology, immunology, microbiology, epidemiology, virology, parasitology) and public health activities (diagnosis, monitoring, resistance, etc.). These postdoctoral grants aim to promote mobility with the arrival in a new environment. The postdoctoral traineeship is

therefore conducted in an institution where the candidate does not yet work, outside the home country and outside the country in which the person attended university.

Morton Cure Paralysis Fund (MCPF) Research Grants The Morton Cure Paralysis Fund (MCPF) is committed to developing effective therapies (cures) for paralysis associated with spinal cord injury and other disorders of the central

nervous system (CNS). MCPF funds activities that hold promise of identifying therapies (cures) for paralysis in humans. MCPF has particular focus of placing projects in the research pipeline, that is, enabling scientists to develop the proof concept data necessary to apply for larger NIH grants. The development of effective therapies for chronic injury is a high priority for the organization. Basic research will be supported if it has clear

potential to accelerate progress at the applied end of the continuum and/or if it reflects innovative research or a 'change of direction.
