COURSE SELECTION INFORMATION

This program is a highly organized camp which gives students going into grades 4—9 an opportunity

to select their own activities for a two-week period. These activities consist of various arts and sports,

meeting on a daily basis, 55 minutes per activity. Students select from a list of diverse arts and sports,

making up their six-period day. For your information, a brief description of each activity is illustrated

below (please note, some courses may not be offered). If a student completes a course selection sheet for

more than one session, we strongly encourage selecting different activities each session. Many of the

projects and lessons are duplicated from session to session.

CARTOONING— campers will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters and learn the basics of animation.

CLAY WORKS— sculpt your favorite animated characters, clay people and animals.

CREATIVE CRAFTS— campers construct a variety of small, interesting crafts projects.

DANCE— campers can select one of three forms of movement: Jazz, African, or Hip-Hop.

DRAMA— campers explore their creative selves, creating skits, role playing, etc.

FINE ARTS— campers are introduced to different areas of art: sculpturing and sketching, charcoals, cray pas, etc.

MARTIAL ARTS— campers will learn basic martial arts movements and exercises through instructor-led classes.

MUSIC MIXING— conduct a music program of popular musical recording.

POTTERY– learn the basics of working with clay; i.e., hand building, pinching, coiling, slab work, coloring techniques, etc.

BASKETBALL— campers learn the fundamentals of this fast, competitive game. FENCING— learn the basics of this sport: footwork, drills and bouting skills. FLAG FOOTBALL— learn the basics of this sport: team position, designing plays, etc. HOCKEY— a competitive game with two teams. Campers will learn the importance of team work. SOCCER— a competitive ball game played by two teams. Team fundamentals are taught. SOFTBALL— campers learn field positions, batting, catching, pitching, etc. TABLE TENNIS— an indoor game based on tennis, played with small paddles and a ball bounced on a table divided by a net. TEAM SPORTS— lower intensity sports including kickball, ultimate frisbee, etc. TENNIS— learn scoring & hand-eye coordination. TRACK & FIELD— a collection of sports events that involve running, throwing, and jumping. ULTIMATE FRISBEE— a sport played with a flying disc. Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone. VOLLEYBALL— a competitive team game in which campers will develop skills in ball handling.

One of the goals of the Sports & Arts camping experience is to make new friends.

Our schedules are computer-generated and campers are placed into classes

in a random fashion. Individual class requests may not be honored.
