*The 6th graders will be
completing “running records” with
either Mrs. Frye, Mrs. Klimchuk,
or myself this week. These
records show us the different
reading strategies each student
uses. We will also be taking a
reading comprehension test which
will help determine different
levels of reading ability.
*We will begin our first novel,
Tuck Everlasting, this week. In
each novel we read this year, the
students will be given vocabulary
words to learn. We will have a
test over these words.
*The students will learn about
figurative language, story
elements, and character traits in
our novel.
RELIGION This week, the sixth graders will have a
quiz on Wednesday about Ch. 1
Revelation and Response.
We will begin our next Ch.2 Sacrifice and
Promise too. In this chapter, students will
learn that because of Abraham’s faith, he
was willing to sacrifice his son to God.
They will understand that faith is an
essential element of our relationship with
God, and we will learn that when we
receive the Eucharist, we receive new
life in Christ, who sacrificed his own
life for us.
SCIENCE Last week, the class learned all about
the scientific method. They also
learned a catchy tune to help them
learn the steps! There will be a quiz
on the scientific method this
Tuesday. Then we will begin our first
unit on cells. Parents, a lab safety
contract will also be sent home this
week. Please sign and return. Thank
you!
