Moving through my first 4 years of architectural educations, I find myself
drawn to interactions within architecture.
These interactions span scale and medium:
the directionality of a screw, the users movement patterns through space,
the variant character of a city, the translation between analog & digital design.
For me these relationships between materials, users, spaces &design processes
are essential to creating multivalent architecture
that performs
functionally,
conceptually,
poetically.

A bike rental depot and apartment building that uses the bicycle as a catalyst for social change. The bicycle is propelled by the user andgiving the user the potential to engage with their surroundings. This building is a hub of a larger community network for bicycle rental. The building—like the bicycle—is self sustaining and engaging. By considering population and relationship to the
university, smaller bike rental points are placed in the towns that neighbor the campus to foster more interaction.

Not a building, but a series of spaces, this project explores the tectonic joineries of materials and spaces. This project focuses on the journey of moving through a space and instead of the destination. The points of interest are experiential moments at thresholds between spaces:

the agriscape provides the opportunity for a self sustaining community through both public and private farming plots.
the industriscape is comprised of the same modular units as the housing to allow for adaptability. This area is covered by an elevated grate to allow safe pedestrian travel.
the recrescape offers a performance hall/theatre, indoor/outdoor climbing wall, recreational trails and underground parking.
the artscape adapts to its surroundings and emerges throughout the site--every surface is a moment away from becoming a canavs.
4 SCAPES
TRAFFIC
the French Broad River and an active railroad line border the site that is
purposed to be developed as a residential area. How-ever, a typical develop-
ment, would be a denial of the unique qualities of the culture of Asheville, NC.
The site is isolated from the downtown area, but
artists use the abandoned warehouses as studio
spaces. To invigorate the site, the analog of
converging continents represents the movement
of different subcultures within the Asheville Area:
farming, industry, recreation, and art.
THERMAL ACTIVITY
In addition to representing the masterplan of the site, this drawing displays the areas of high activity with the language of a thermal diagram. These “hotspots” represent the collision of the four scapes on the site.

A BBQ Restaurant that uses streetside architecure as a vehicle for engaging the customer in the laborious process of bbq preparation by blurring the line between kitchen and dining spaces.
By replacing unused asphaltwith vegitation and permeable textures, the parking lot develops into habitabal zones that connect adjacent communities for increased pedestrian and bicycle movement.

ANDERSON SC_community axisTRAIN STATIONform as a response to site and functionality
A light rail station in the center of Anderson, SC gives new life to a sputtering downtown area. Built around an existing train line that once provided this city with its livelihood will once again invigorate the area.
Driven by the vectors of the existing rails and shape of the adjacent buildings, this project attempts to blur the lines.
The tapering towers contain the building’s static programatic needs and act as circulation nodes. The movement through the sight wraps around the towers as a response to their position.
