Week 1- BINGO!
B I N G O
Find an old or a new tongue
twister. Try it out! If it’s too easy, try it
backwards!
Pick any 10 items around your home.
Create a classification
system that groups them in some way.
Estimation: If a faucet drips once every 3 seconds, after 1 week of
dripping, would the wasted water fill 1 cup, 1 water jug, or 1 bathtub? Explain
your thinking.
Using materials at home design and
build a bridge that holds weight. Take a picture and send it
to your teacher!
Scientists want to know more about the world around
us. Ask 3 WHAT and 3 WHY questions about the world.
Find the answers to these questions!
Play 2 games on your Splash Math!
Account
Listen to one of your favourite
songs. What type of genre do you think it is? What
story is it trying to tell?
Complete 2-word problems in your Math Duotang.
Work for 20 minutes on your
addition/subtraction worksheets in your
Math Duotang.
Watch/listen to the local Winnipeg
news. Is there an issue that stuck out
to you that you want to learn more
about?
# of the Day:Complete the # of the day sheet in
your duotang. Use the number 3481
Get a small piece of tinfoil (2in x 3in)
and create a boat! How many coins
can it hold before sinking?
During your walk in the neighbourhood,
read out some of the advertisements.
Do you see patterns?
Measurement: Time yourself walking to and from school.
How long would it take you to walk to and from 5x? How long would it take you to walk just ONE way? Use
multiplication and division to find your
answers.
Make noodles/spaghetti/
Kraft Dinner and eat it with a
baking/cooking utensil. Was it
harder or easier?
Let your teachers know which of the BINGO tasks you complete!
ELA
Part A) Watching/Listening Reflection
· Your task is to select ONE Fictional and ONE Non-fictional pieces.
· Each week, you will be asked to reflect on two of your pieces you chose and summarize to the best of
your ability.
· A great tip is to use the 5W’s to help you summarize your reading!
· After summarizing, we ask that you take some time to reflect on what you’ve watched and ask critical
thinking questions to help expand your understanding.
Fiction (Movies/novels/TV series) Non-fictional (TED Talks/Biographies/” How-
To”...etc)
· Summarize your story without spoilers
· What was your favorite moment and why?
· What was your informational book/video about?
· What are some of the most interesting or
important things you learned about your topic?
Please feel free to jot down and record your answers, and share them with your Teacher when they call,
or on Microsoft Teams!
Part B) Fun with the Family! Gather your family around and review the Mad Lib template attached, together. Read each sentence out loud, and have every member keep track of their answers to the blank spaces provided. After completing, each family member is challenged to present their funny Mad Lip story to the household. Below are some descriptions for some of the words being used in this Mad Lib
Adjective Words that describe or modify a noun or a pronoun: Ex: Red car, Fast dog, Happy duck, Quick rabbit... etc
Noun Words that describe a person, place or thing: Ex: Toyota Corolla, Africa, Blood, Cat, Dog... etc
Verb Words to describe an action or state Ex: Laugh, Run, Play, Thought, Ran, Sat... etc Adverb Words that modify an adjective: Ex: Quickly, Gently, Loudly, Greedily, Correctly... etc
Part C) Reading Challenge!
Math- Week 2, Day 1- Linear Equations
Last week you learned how to graph co-ordinate pairs by playing a game of Battleship. Well done! This
week, we are continuing our learning about Linear Equations by looking at Linear Patterns. Let’s look at the following example:
This image represents a linear pattern. As the term number increases (gets bigger), the number of dots increase by the same amount. Your job is to “read” the pattern and write down what you notice. Looking at our example, we know a few things: the term #, and the # of objects (dots) in each term of the pattern.
Term # # of Objects1 32 63 9
Our next step is to identify the increase of dots each time. The 1st term has 3 dots, the 2nd term has 6 dots, and the 3rd term has 9 dots. The # of dots increases by 3 each time. This is called the change and it is important to notice! Since we are working with Linear Equations, the change will be the same with each term. Let’s add that into our table.
Term # # of objects Change1 3
+32 63 9
Looking at this table, how many dots will be in the 4th and 5th term of the pattern? How do you know?
Answer: the 4th term will have 12 dots. The 5th term will have 15 dots. I know this because the pattern increases by 3 each time.
Week 2- Day 2 & 3-Identifying One Step Linear Patterns
Look at the patterns provided and fill in the tables appropriately, including the Term #, # of Objects, and Change in the # of objects with each term. Then, extend the pattern by determining how many objects will be in the 4th and 5th term of each pattern!
Term # # of Objects Change 1 6 2 3 45
Term # # of Objects Change

Week 2- Days 4 & 5- Creating your own Linear Patterns
Create 2 linear patterns of your own. Draw a pattern that increases by the same amount each term. Feel free to use the examples in the last assignment to inspire your patterns!
a) Draw the first 3 terms of the pattern. You can either create a pattern by inserting shapes in word or drawing your own.
b) Create a table like you did in the last assignment. Extend the table to show the first 5 terms of your pattern 😊
Pattern #1:
a) Draw your pattern here:

b) Create your Table here. Remember to extend your table to the 4th and 5th term.
