What are you doing?

Continuous Tense

We use continuous tense when something is

happening NOW.

How is it different from present?

We use simple present to talk about general things.

I teach English everyday.

I am Canadian.

How is it different from present?

We use present continuous only for things that are happening right NOW.

I am eating lunch. He is listening to the teacher.

We are speaking English.

How do we make it?

We use the verb ' to be' + ing to make the continuous tense.

Some examples:

I am reading a book.We are eating lunch.

They are jumping.He is cleaning his room.

Is anything irregular?

Verbs that end with 'e' are irregular.We need to take away the 'e' then + ing.

dance = dancing

smile = smilingwrite = writing

Verbs that end with consonant,vowel,consonant need to

double the consonant + ing.

swim = swimming

run = running

What are they doing?

They are running.

What is she doing?

She is jumping.

What is he doing?

He is singing.

What are they doing?

They are doing taekwando.

What are the pigs doing?

The pigs are flying.

What is he doing?

He is eating.

What are we doing right now?

We are sitting.

We are learning.

We are living.
