Directions for Duplicating Bops• Changing the values on the bop’s original problem, so that the

problem is numerically different, but requires the same skills as the original bop to solve. This means that the duplicated bop must not fundamentally alter the scaffolding (or problem-solving steps, visual aids, and hints) of the original bop.

• Changing the values in the final answer box. If it is a multiple choice question, both the correct and incorrect answers should be changed, as well as the relative positioning of these answers. If it is a question which requires students to enter values into a text box, then all possible correct answers must be updated to reflect the new solution.

• For each step in the bop, change the values in each critical thinking statement and hints to reflect the duplicate problem, including all values contained in the text of the critical thinking statement, the hints, multiple choice or text-box answers, and incorrect answer responses. This should be done in such a way that the only thing changing in the bop are the numbers themselves, not the wording, labels, units, or variables.

Here’s a hint!

The value of a digit in a number is found by multiplying the digit by the place value. For example, suppose we want to find the value of the “2” in 243. We could think about the problem this way.
