Sacrifice does not come easily. However,

the purpose and object of sacrifice can render

it more natural. A mother can survive the pain

of childbirth for the sake of the baby. A parent

can endure denial of personal pleasures for the necessity of

providing for a child. A student can invest in hours of reading,

writing, study and tests for the goal of earning a degree. A sol-

dier can survive periods of deprivation and threats, for the hon-

or of defending family, friends, and freedom.

Sacrifice usually yields some benefit for the person sacrific-

ing. The addition of new life to the family. The hope of a better

life for the child. A formal education to open more opportuni-

ties. A way of life characterized by freedom.

What did Jesus gain from His sacrifice? Did it provide

something He lacked? What does a bird gain from singing, the

wind gain from blowing, and the sun gain from shining? It is

the nature of the bird to sing, the wind to blow, and the sun to

shine. And it is the nature of God to love, even to sacrifice in

holy obedience.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and

only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish

but have eternal life” (John 3:16; NLT).

“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus

had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God

as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privi-

leges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a

human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled

himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a

cross” (Philippians 2:5-8; NLT).

With gratitude and love, Bro. Dennis Christian sympathy is extended to …

...Tom Anderson and family on the death of his brother.

...Anna Chelette and family on the death of her daughter-

in-law, Merlinda Chelette.

...Agnes Kudji on the death of her sister.

...Dot Horton on the death of her sister-in-law.

...Mike Mohler on the death of his father.

...Linda Bankston on the death of her mother.

Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.—Psalm 141:3 I remember one time I had to leave my computer in my car. My concern was that someone might try to take it, so I made sure my car was locked and my computer was well hidden un-der a pile of junk. I did everything I could think of to keep my computer safe. When some-thing is important, you’ve got to watch over it and keep it locked up. We know that guarding our possessions is important, but what about our words? Today’s Bible verse talks about guarding our mouth. If words aren’t important to God, why would David ask for God’s help to guard his mouth? It seems like the words that we speak are important. We know that when something is important, we guard it. Our words are important. They can determine how we see ourselves. Words can be used to hurt others. The words we speak are powerful and it’s up to us how we use them. So, today, choose to put a guard on your words. Be a person that speaks life over yourself and others. Determine to only let good words come out of your mouth.

Love ya! Bro. Jerry

Hello from the Kids Wing! Wow, State Bible Drill was great! We had new families able to attend. We had Drillers of all ages compete and glorify God with their actions. We had safe travels, and many wonderful moments. We had newbies competing for the first time, and we had Katie Grubbs who qualified for state for the 9

th consecutive and

final year. VBS is gearing up… We are expanding the program to have 5

th and 6

th grades in their

own rotations, and that is exciting. We could still use volunteers, so please get with Kim Grubbs or myself if you can help, even if it’s just for a day or two, God uses us in all ca-pacities! Please be in prayer!!! We have received new Children’s Church worker volunteers! Thank you for volun-teering! We still could use a couple ladies to join the rotation in GA’s. We also have new substitute teachers for Sunday School. Thank you! God bless the rest of the school year! Love yall, Mitch
