One of the best ways we “Love our Neighbors” here at Grace is through the Grace Gives project. In the past, this weekend is one when we close our doors and go out into our community to help those in need. There are some important changes this year so that we can become more intentional and sustainable in the methods we use. This is a weekend where the whole family can be involved in a variety of ways. We will have working shifts Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon. It is important to remember that we will be having regular services on Sunday, June 8. Here are the areas you can be a part of for the weekend:

Missions*: Relief Bus, World Impact, Soup Kitchen, First Choice

Minor Home Repair: We will be providing much needed repairs to two homes and one small church.

Nursing Homes: We will be visiting nursing homes and group homes.

Parks and Playgrounds: We will beautify local parks.

Photography Team: We will need to capture our work!

Prayer Team: This is the engine that drives the weekend!

Yard Work: We will be helping seniors clean up from our long winter.

There is much more information on the website: www.gracegives4families.com. Please go there to read more about our plans for the weekend and beyond. You can register to work and get your free Grace Gives tee shirt beginning Sunday, May 11, at all four services. You will not want to miss the opportunity to be a part of something much larger than yourself. Our church is truly going outside of our own walls to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us.

*Continued on page 2

Thursday, May 1, is the National Day of Prayer. This is a day when Christians in all denominations in every community across the USA pause to pray for our country. At Grace Church, we will be gathering in the auditorium at 7:00 P.M. for a special prayer service. We will have several leaders from our church leading us in strategic times of prayer for seven spheres of influence: government, education, business, media, military, family, and the church. Prayer is probably the most powerful thing any of us can do to bring a greater measure of God's redeeming influence upon this nation in which we live. Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us. Your country needs you!

For more opportunities to pray, see page 2.

We are in the middle of a series exploring the depths of the Psalms; for the purpose of shaping worship-ful hearts. Historically, Christians have seen the chief purpose of every person is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Individually, when we embrace and live out this idea, it transforms our thoughts, our actions, and our lives. This month, Psalm 66 is our "Big Shout Out" of praise to our Lord the King! Come and discover how your acts of worship give witness to God's Glory and a testimony to God's presence every time you worship!

On Thursday, May 1, we encourage everyone to pray for our country and we are counting on you to volun-teer for a 1/2 hour time of prayer. Sign up in the lobby on April 27 and then commit to pray during your time slot either at Grace, Room 204 (Grace Café), or wher-ever you may be. You may also join in proactively for a 6:30 A.M. Continental Breakfast and Prayer or 12:00 noon prayer at the Horseshoe Lake Gazebo in Rox-bury. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Baker at [email protected].

Imagine…

…a child hearing about God’s love for the first time.

…kids worshiping in powerful ways.

…children praying for each other.

…adults and teens modeling Jesus’ love to children.

…children serving each other.

This summer, kids will discover that Jesus’ love is one-of-a-kind at Weird Animals VBS. Be a part of Vacation

Bible School here at Grace Church during August 4-8. This year we are adding a “backyard” VBS. A host

home would invite neighbor kids to their own backyard or local park or development play yard, and we will

provide the training (during our Netcong VBS) and materials needed. You set the times and dates. We

encourage you to prayerfully consider hosting. Imagine how many more kids we can reach for Christ right in

our own back yard.

We are praying this awesome VBS program will touch children’s hearts and lives with Jesus’ love. Help kids in

our community discover that

...even when you’re left out…Jesus loves you!

...even though you’re different…Jesus loves you!

...even when you don’t understand…Jesus loves you!

...even though you do wrong…Jesus loves you!

...even when you’re afraid…Jesus loves you!

As we plan and prepare for Weird Animals, our team would cherish your prayers. Pray that God would

give us wisdom in planning. Pray for the right volunteers to join us. And pray that God would begin

working in the hearts of the children who will come to Weird Animals!

We are very glad that you’ve made Grace Church part of your busy week. It is our prayer that you were given a warm

welcome and were challenged by a message true to the word of God. Be sure to complete a visitor information card, return it

to Guest Services, and get your free gift. Also, stop by the Grace Café off the lobby and get to know some new friends. We

want you to know you are an honored guest!

What is the Grace SWAP?

♦ It is a place for people to connect the things that

they have (you know, the stuff you no longer

use, the stuff in your attic, or drawer, or garage)

with people who need them.

♦ In the Grace Café (Room 204), you will find

cards to fill out describing the item that you

would like to GIVE away (All must be free).

♦ It will be posted on the bulletin board for others

to see and write down your information.

♦ NO items will actually be accepted here at

Grace.

♦ Once the item is gone, you simply remove your

card and praise God for the chance to serve

someone else's need.

Consider praying for others at Grace as part of your

dedicated time with Christ.

Nearly every day Grace Church has close to a hundred people praying for the needs of others. If you are a person of prayer and a believer in Jesus Christ, we need you on our Prayer Team. If you are interested in finding out more, please email Mary Ann at [email protected].

If you are in need of prayer, let Mary Ann know and she

will publish your request to the team.

On the third Saturday of each month, March through

November, our friends 55 and older enjoy lunch, great

Christian fellowship and a chance to grow as

Christians. This month they meet on May 17 from 11:30

A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Grace Café (Room 204). We are

celebrating everyone’s birthday this month and we will have

a “getting to know you” activity. Questions? Contact Sue

Healy at [email protected].

If you would like to post your prayer requests for

everyone to share, stop in the Grace Cafe and post your

request on the Prayer Request board. You can also join

in by praying for others who have posted there.

This recovery group meets on Monday evenings from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Grace Church in Room 100. Our last meeting for the season will be on May 12. No meeting on April 28. We will resume in September, see upcoming issues of the Times of Grace for more details.

GriefShare groups help you move forward toward rebuilding your life after the loss of a loved one. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:

♦ Expert Video Seminar

♦ Focused Support Group Discussion

♦ Workbook based personal study

You don’t have to go through the healing process alone.

GriefShare meets weekly on Monday evenings at 7:00 P.M. in Room 101 (Library). Our last meeting for the season will be on May 5. We will resume in September, see upcoming issues of the Times of Grace for more details.

Questions? Contact Frank or Kathy Rizzo at 973-398-1510.

Attention Men! You are in for quite a treat on Saturday, May 10, at 8:00 A.M. You will have the opportunity to join some of your friends for a delicious catered breakfast and hear some well-kept secrets all at the same time. You will also be on hand for an historic event! For the first time, we will be welcoming a WOMAN to the Men’s Breakfast! Sherrie McDonald has asked women what they wish men understood about what women need to see in a man, a husband, and a father. She is very excited to be able to share this information with us. You will NOT want to miss this informative and enter-taining morning. The cost for the breakfast is $10 and tickets will be on sale in the lobby beginning Sunday, April 27.

BRIGHT Co-Op, a homeschool group that meets on Fridays at Grace Church on the Mount, is currently seeking interested families for their 2014-2015 school year. BRIGHT is an academic co-op offering science, math, language arts, gym, and other subjects for grades K – 12. If you or someone you know is interested, you can contact Kellie Henningsen at [email protected]. You can also check out our website at https://homeschool-life.com/sysfiles/member/index.cfm?memberid=952. Plans are underway, so don’t wait.

If you like to work behind the scenes and help another person in

need, join the Care-Net email team.

What do we do? We help others with the practical things of

life: moving, packing, cleaning, making a meal, yard work, etc...

How do we do it? Periodically, requests for assistance are sent out

to members of the team via email. You read the email, see if you

have the talent and can make the time, and we get you connected! It

can be that easy.

Who do we help? The requests shared are from people who are

regular attendees at Grace (Your brothers and sisters from your

church body) .

How to get involved? If you are interested in serving with this

group, please contact Pastor Cameron Baker

at [email protected] – he will be happy to add you to

our growing list of helpers.

ALSO: If you find yourself needing a little assistance, drop an

email to Pastor Cameron at [email protected] he will

be happy to share your opportunity with others who may be able to

assist.
